In the role of SME Research Director, you will lead and co-ordinate SIA's research focused on small and medium sized staffing firms (annual revenue below $75 million).
You will act as thought leader and conduct a wide variety of analyses, research reports and articles to help CEO's, business owners and other senior executives at SME staffing firms develop their businesses, including insights into best practices, strategic advice, tools, templates and benchmarks.

About the Role
SIA plans to extend its research coverage to provide deeper, broader and more actionable content to support those of our corporate members who are SME staffing firms.
Based in the US, the SME Research Director will be part of SIA's research team reporting to the VP Research.
The successful candidate will be responsible for writing their own research reports as well as helping to coordinate the development of research by other members of the research team and freelancers that is relevant for SME staffing firms. Topic categories will range from financial management, people management, sales strategy, marketing, legal issues and technology.
The primary style of research will be in the form of best practices, strategic advice, tools, templates and benchmarks that will assist senior executives at SME staffing firms to grow their businesses.
Research will communicate key business intelligence and analysis in clear and precise language supported by relevant charts, graphs and tables as well as originating and verifying supporting data from primary and secondary sources.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
Executive Role in a Staffing Firm - You must have extensive experience working in a senior-level position at a staffing firm, likely in an operational role. While you may not be expert across all research topics, you must have good operational knowledge and experience relating to the multiple activities required to operate a successful staffing firm from sales, marketing, finance, legal and technology. Where you do not possess expertise on any topic, you have a strong personal network to leverage and proactively source and develop actionable insights.
Writing Experience - You are an excellent writer with good grammar skills and have business writing experience for an executive level business audience.
Communication Skills - You are comfortable interacting with senior executives to learn and understand their agenda and determine what research will be of most use to them in solving business problems. You are outgoing and comfortable in establishing a network of contacts to inform your research output and fostering good internal relationships within SIA.
Visualization of data - Your general analytical and mathematical problem-solving skills are excellent. You exercise good judgment when using various chart types, tables and diagrams and are skilled in using Microsoft Excel and/or other software to analyze data and create graphics to communicate key research findings. You have a keen eye for visual detail.
Intelligence - You can investigate and answer unfamiliar questions through original and creative analyses that generate perceptive value-added insight. You have the ability to become an acknowledged expert on all things related to growing a staffing business.
Execution Oriented - You get the right stuff done day-in and day-out. You meet every deadline. You've achieved significant results fast, and you can prove it with hard facts from previous jobs.
