What Is In It For You

Salary: $80,000-$120,000 (depending on relevant industry experience)

Relocation: Open to paying relocation costs.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS FOR MECHANICAL ENGINEER

A Day In The Life of a Mechanical Engineer:

Under the direction of the Engineering Manager, the Mechanical Engineer will assist in the development of new engine platforms as well as the sustainment of existing models. This individual will primarily focus on engine development, including conceptualization, detailed engineering design, and analysis.

This position is a professional engineering position, yet combined with occasional "hands-on", assisting technicians working through challenged on the engine(s).

An individual in this position must be able to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities listed below. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position. Performance of other duties as assigned.

  • Design and develop engine systems and components, starting with basic engineering analysis.
  • Select appropriate materials and processes considering performance, longevity, reliability, and cost.
  • Execute or develop requirements and verification methods for component or system analyses.
  • Proactively communicate with engineers, drafters, suppliers, and program managers to optimize engine design, reliability, and performance.
  • Develop and create test standards and protocols; analyze test results.
  • Design for lowest manufacturing cost consistent with reliability, performance requirements, and FAA certification standards.
  • Supervise drawing preparation in accordance to ASME drafting standards.
  • Perform stack up tolerance analysis to ensure designs are suitable for manufacture.
  • Assist with the setup and execution of FEA, CFD, and engine performance analysis.

Qualifications

Required:

  • BS, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent from four-year University.
  • 3+ years of appropriate engine design experience.
  • Experience with complex castings such as engine blocks
  • Experience with precision steel forgings such as crankshafts

Preferred:

  • Proficient with Solidworks or other 3D CAD modeling software
  • FEA, CFD, fatigue, durability, and engine performance simulation and optimization experience
  • GD&T Experience
  • R&D Experience
  • Pilot
  • Aviation enthusiast
