Job Description
Under the direction of VP of IT and Processing, manages the implementation, support, and training for current and future business applications at United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County (UWGMWC).  Implements and configures software applications, develops, and delivers user training, responds to user questions, and solves application issues.  Serves as project manager for application enhancement initiatives.  This position reports to the Vice President, Information Technology & Processing.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Include the following, but are not limited to:

APPLICATION SUPPORT & PROCESS IMPROVEMENT  50%

Ongoing Support Activities
  • Manage product upgrade process, testing new service packs and patches, coordinate the upgrade schedule and communicate software changes to impacted users
  • Manage application and business process issue resolution activities, including facilitation of project status meetings
  • Act as primary liaison to software vendors for technical support
  • Identify and coordinate interface and integration points between various UWGMWC software applications
  • Identify, evaluate, and recommend business process improvements.  Project manage and implement the approved improvements
  • Support the data gathering needed for custom reports when application-provided reports are insufficient. Provide back up support for creating and distributing key business function reports, using Excel, SQL, and PowerBI
  • Provide support for key business applications to end-users in all departments

New System Implementation and Integration Activities
  • Lead and participate in system configuration and development
  • Create and execute test plans to ensure that systems function as designed
  • Lead system conversion and roll-out activities, including project management, data conversion, training, and system installation with other systems as needed
  • Lead system support activities, including user support and resolution of problems and enhancement requests
  • Provide weekly status reports to track project progress

Expected Outcomes: Software applications support UWGMWC business processes.  Applications operate at maximum stability.  Issues are properly prioritized and resolved in a timely fashion. Business processes are consistently monitored and improved where possible.

TRAINING & COMMUNICATION  20%
  • Manage all business application-related training tasks, including design, development, delivery and evaluation
  • Conduct regularly scheduled meetings with end-users to discuss current application and process issues and introduce new software updates
  • Coordinate IT training efforts, including new staff software training, “training days,” and communication of software tips and best practices
  • Deliver follow-up 1-on-1 training when necessary

Expected Outcome: Users are presented with sufficient opportunities to learn how to use application software and discuss current process/system issues.


DATABASE ADMINISTRATION  20%
  • Manage data entry standards for key business applications
  • Manage the monitoring and cleanup of key application data
  • Administer application-level security policies
  • Perform regularly scheduled application data maintenance activities, such as the “rollover” of UWGMWC's data to the next campaign year
  • Document data and system administration tasks relevant to key business applications

Expected Outcome: Data is regularly monitored for integrity and consistency with standards.  User security is managed appropriately.

IT Help Desk Support 10%
  • Provide backup support for the report generation system
  • Provide basic backup support for the IT help desk when needed

Expected Outcome: IT help desk and report is covered when the primary owners are out of the office.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Requires a bachelor’s degree in MIS, Computer Science or related degree or commensurate experience. Minimum of three years of application support or systems development experience including business process, software configuration, software testing, and user support.  One or more years of project management experience. Solid understanding of relational database systems and computer operations. Able to update existing SQL code and develop basic SQL modules and willingness to learn how to develop more complex SQL modules.
