SummaryTransforms initial rough customer/sales' designs into working documents using CAD and other software while adhering to mezzanine specifications and standards. The position works from data such as previous drawings, layouts, detailed sketches, notes, verbal instructions, and standard references under the direct technical supervision of engineers and senior designers. Ability to analyze and interpret construction requirements, space requirements, and other technical documents to determine their effect on mezzanine design.

Job Responsibilities & RequirementsEssential Functions Statement(s)
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of MiTek Mezzanine's specific design standards and custom components for use in custom mezzanine and related structural design.
  • Use required drafting and structural design skills, and knowledge of CAD software, to create/develop layout plans, approval drawings, erection drawings, sections and details.
  • Thoroughly check and confirm details of all design work for conformance with project specifications, design and manufacturing standards, and feasibility.
  • Converses with engineers, designers, and other subject matter experts to interpret design concepts, determine nature and type of required detailed working drawings, and coordinate work with others.
  • Verifies accuracy and completeness of drawings and project designs.
  • Compiling and analyzing data, computing quantities, and determining materials required to procure ahead of fabrication.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines.
  • Attendance in the office during normal business hours.
SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education:

  • Associate Degree (two-year college or technical school) Preferred Field of Study: Architectural, CAD, or Design
  • 0-2 years of experience in a related position

Computer Skills:

  • Must have solid PC experience in Windows' environments and good working knowledge of Microsoft Office. Proficiency with AutoCAD 2015 is required.
  • Knowledge of Tekla or 3D equivalent is a plus.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to read and interpret AutoCAD drawings, and math skills to trigonometry are required. Ability to understand architectural and structural drawings. Detail oriented, accurate, thorough, and demonstration of willingness to learn. A self-motivated career professional that enjoys detailed project work, strong analytical skills, organizational skills, and works well under pressure. Position demands maturity, confidentiality, and the ability to interface with various departments and individuals. Must be flexible and able to work independently.
