Communications Specialist:

So we can continue to fulfill our purpose to help keep communities healthy, fed, clean and safe, Univar Solutions is looking for a Communications Specialist to join our Corporate Communications team, reporting to the Director, Global Internal Communications with a dotted line to the North America Communications Manager. You'll bring your best, most creative ideas to write and publish real-time internal and external communications that build our reputation and culture with priority stakeholders - employees, customers, suppliers and partners.

This role is for the communicator who loves writing and putting a creative spin to corporate and business news, as well as for the smart, fast thinker and doer who thrives working in fast-paced environments. This role will also provide support for events managed and hosted by Corporate Communications, including Town Halls and some employee events. The role will help manage and ensure adherence to corporate brand identity standards and communications playbook. The position is primarily responsible for creative content development and bring to life communications campaigns through compelling ideas, content, and measurement for all communication channels owned by Corporate Communications.

You'll be at the ground floor of helping us redefine the future of communications and provide experience in internal corporate storytelling; social media; change management communication; executive visibility/support; employee engagement; community relations; and cross-functional collaboration designed to strengthen our brand reputation and the connectivity both internally within our lines of business and across our offices, branches and shared services centers, as well as externally with customers, suppliers, industry affiliations and communities.

What You'll Do:

  • Develop and publish creative content that gets people to read, click and share on the company intranet, social media channels, newsletters, employee mobile app and digital signage.
  • Serves as a core member of our Global and North America Editorial Advisory Councils and Social Media Team to oversee and manage content across the organization.
  • Provides general editorial support and guidance to key functional groups, as needed.
  • Analyze and reports key metrics for Corporate and North America-centric team-led initiatives and campaigns.
  • Provide key support for corporate events, including Town Halls and Corporate Social Responsibility events.
  • Develop and implement creative programs that inform, educate, motivate and engage the employee population, activating the brand and culture of the company and driving value across the organization.
  • Manage communications playbook(s) and Communication Request portal to help organize and prioritize projects and keep communications initiatives on track.

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in public relations, journalism, English or other related field
  • At least 3 years of communications experience, preferably with a Fortune 500 Business-to-Business or Business-to-Business-to-Consumer multi-national company, or at an agency with progressive responsibilities and proven results
  • Top-notch grammar and proofreading skills, based on AP style
  • Master of the short, compelling soundbites (snack-sized bites) for internal and external channels
  • Solid experience using MS Office applications, such as PowerPoint, to produce visually appealing and dynamic content
  • Experience with content creation and management of in-house engagement tools and channels, including Yammer, Social Chorus/First up or other digital employee publishing app/tool
  • Proficiency in developing and maintaining Sharepoint pages and/or Intranet pages

  • This is a hybrid based role that will report out of our Corporate Headquarters located in Downers Grove, IL.
