Job Description
GENERAL FUNCTION Under the supervision of the Production Manager, the position is accountable for overseeing shift production, meeting production performance goals, quality goals and ensuring a safe working environment for each employee. The Shift Supervisor is also responsible for creating a culture of collaboration and accountability by guiding, coaching and mentoring the production teams to consistently meet plant objectives and deliverables using WCM/CI Standards, KPI’s and OSHA requirements.



DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES % of time 80% • Essential Duties • Coaches, guides and mentors, Line Leads & Operators, by influencing behaviors to meet assigned responsibilities that directly improve individual, team, and plant performance • Schedule and assign employee line responsibility • Assign workload, monitor progress, and evaluate results • Monitor overall safety, production, quality and key performance indicators • Provide essential communication between management and production crews • Oversee the cleanliness and housekeeping of the production area • Oversee training for new employees, coach, develop, and provide feedback on employee progress using feedback mechanisms (30,60, 90 days and annual) • Prepare incident/accident reports as needed, and conduct necessary follow-ups • Provide continuous process and production improvement recommendations • Lead weekly and/or monthly production team meetings • Manage time records, attendance reporting, disciplinary action / reporting of line personnel • Production reporting, including production output, run rates, waste, downtime, EWO trends, breakdown management tracking • First line support of production operators and maintenance to eliminate/minimize machine failure • Audit quality checks performed by line personnel • Audit sustainment systems and compliance for the following: ? Safety (STOPS & One Minute to Think) ? Production Recipes ? AM Standards ? Daily Duty Sheets ? One Point Lessons ? SOP accuracy • Identifies inefficiencies or gaps and utilizes skills to develop systems and processes to streamline where necessary utilizing WCM/CI tools to drive culture of continuous improvement. • Coaching and leadership role to drive WCM efforts, which include Autonomous Maintenance (AM), Safety, People Development, EWO’s and Quick Kaizens • Provides input regarding employees who are not meeting performance objectives and, when necessary will assist in the discussion with the appropriate manager to provide feedback to associate. • Continuously evaluates workplace for safety concerns and ensures behavioral safety initiatives are performed to goal levels. • Assures good housekeeping practices following 5S system, enforces plant rules and safety regulations, coach’s employees and supports VMVO and WCM Initiatives. • Other Duties and Responsibilities. • Assists team members with tactical operations in order to help team meet yield and availability numbers • Participates with the interviewing, hiring, and onboarding of new employees • Performs other related duties and responsibilities as needed and/or requested by management.

PROBLEM SOLVING • Has significant problem solving experience involving frequent changes in production schedule, variations in raw materials and unexpected absences of employees. Must work through direct reports to revise processes, production schedules, equipment and shipping schedules in a manner that maintains product quality and output rates while meeting changing customers’ needs. • Ability to effectively share plant objectives with the production workforce and to help those personnel achieve these objectives. KNOWLEDGE • Two (2) years of post-high school education (or equivalent experience) or five (5) years of manufacturing experience/industrial/technical experience, or a minimum of (4) years of military experience • Two (2) years of experience teaching, leading, or coaching • Flexible, open-minded team player with excellent written and verbal communication skills • Excellent interpersonal and problem solving capabilities to work effectively in corporate, manufacturing and team environments. • Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

PREFERRED QUALIFICAIONS • Bachelor’s degree • Previous experience in performance teams or self-direct teams in a production environment. •

Previous work experience in Lean principles or WCM • Ability to be an outstanding coach and leader with succession planning and employee development skills • Active interest in the success of the people development and training systems• Previous work experience in Lean principles or WCM • Ability to be an outstanding coach and leader with succession planning and employee development skills • Active interest in the success of the people development and training systems.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBLITY • Coaches and mentors’ employees according to CertainTeed Policy and VMVO. • The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a team environment and be able to demonstrate the ability to negotiate positive change. • Responsible for a shift upwards of 30 production associates.
