What You'll Do
The Application Development Specialist (ADS) will provide technical services to assigned industry customers for the purpose of sales growth. The ADS will promote distinction between Univar Solutions and our competitors by using a technical consultative approach to needs-based evaluations of the technology utilized by customers.
The ADS builds profitable sales, employing a consultative approach. Develops and maintains a long-term partnership with customers by using industry expertise. Uses Univar resources to provide solutions to customer needs and gathers market intelligence.
Key Responsibilities:
Internal Activities:
Provide product and industry training to all Sales and Sales support teams as required.
Participate in all Industry related meetings/teleconferences.
Assist with Supplier/Customer contract negotiations.
Assist in Business plan development - goals, forecasts.
Supports all aspects of developing business opportunities, targets, and prospecting.
Assist in tradeshows (national & local), industry conference/meetings, website info, and literature development.
Customer Activities:
Assist customers with application/formulation support.Provide technical support at all levels of the customer chain as necessary.
Coordinate supplier meetings at key/target customers.
Review opportunities and coordinate efforts to close with the local sales organization.
Assist in Business Development, developing technical proposals and generating product/service application solutions.
Identify new service/product opportunities through monitoring industry/market changes and customer need.
Fully understands local markets/trends and products for customers.
Supplier Activities:
Manage communication with supplier technical recourses.
Collaborates on products and service solutions.
Assist with new product launches.
Assist in qualifications of potential new suppliers/products.
What You'll Need
Four-year college degree (technical or Chemistry preferred).
Demonstrated technical knowledge in the Homecare & Industrial Cleaning (HIC)vertical.
Successful experience (five years minimum) with a technical product concentration in HIC.
Experience dealing with customers at multiple levels, both internal and external, and supplier partners.
Proficient in the use of computers and MS Office including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Strong organizational skills, with the ability to handle complex projects and multi-task responsibilities.
Understand current issues and align sales efforts with stated company objectives.
Demonstrated selling skills & multi-tasking abilities.
Strong interpersonal skills, both oral and written, necessary to communicate effectively inside and outside the organization
Ability to travel (50-75%)
