Job Description
Position Title:  Event Cook, Part Time
Job: Part time, non-exempt
Pay rate: $13.50 per hour

Supervisor: Executive Chef
Date: 2/2022

General Purpose: Works as a team member in the production of food at MAM for service from Café Calatrava, Coffee Shop and East End as well as MAM catering and/or any MAM pop up food operations, on or off premise, consisting of, but is not limited to breakfast, lunch, dinner or other special Museum functions. Prepares and/or assists with kitchen set up and the production or packaging of specials, soups, sauces, meats, fish, poultry, grab and go items, smoothies and other menu items in accordance with Museum recipes and standards of quality.  Assures freshness, proper serving temperatures and the minimizing of food waste.
 
Education/Experience Requirements: Person must possess strong work ethic and be an organized food professional.  Must have culinary background and knowledge of sanitation. 
License or Certification Requirements: None

Duties and Responsibilities: Helps set up and maintain the kitchen each day. Ability to mass produce all foods using established Museum recipes in accordance with portion control, presentation standards, quality standards and client specifications. Perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision. Interacts professionally with guests, suppliers, and other employees. Work effectively as a team contributor on all assignments. Checks in with a manager at the beginning of each shift and prior to departure every shift. Ensures that assigned work areas and equipment are clean and sanitary. Notifies Executive Chef/Sous Chef of expected shortages.  Assists Executive Chef/Sous Chef in maintaining security and safety in the kitchen.  Assists in other duties as assigned by Executive Chef/Sous Chef and kitchen leads. Maintains a neat, professional appearance and complies with MAM uniform and personal hygiene standards at all times.  Adheres to state and local health and safety regulations.  Covers, dates, labels, and neatly stores all food. Returns unused food products as well as soiled food preparation equipment and utensils to proper storage areas. Maintains highest sanitary standards.
Physical requirements:
Walks or stands during entire shift. Use hands or fingers, handle, or feel; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; reach with hands and arms. Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Push and pull carts weighing up to 100 pounds. Able to work with potentially dangerous equipment which may chop, slice, mix, etc. Interacts verbally and professionally with service and kitchen staff. Possess a professional and positive attitude. Must be able to read and speak English. Use of alcohol or drugs before or during one’s shift is grounds for dismissal.

Temperament:
Excellent interpersonal skills, systematic, meticulous, patient, self-starter and works well under pressure. Manages time efficiently, analyze and solve problems independently and if necessary, collaboratively. Ability to be flexible and embrace changes within this position due to departmental priorities. Ability to work with a wide variety of people to achieve the goals of the Museum.
