Hours and schedule may vary to include nights as well as some weekends as needed to meet departmental goals, deadlines and/or emergencies.
This position is also part of an on-call rotating schedule.

Position Summary
This position is responsible for troubleshooting and repairing commercial kitchen equipment, performing general building maintenance task and preventative maintenance for equipment and dining facilities. General maintenance task will consist of performing a variety of physical labor task at variable rates to include plumbing, electrical work, painting, wall covering, low-grade construction, etc. This position will be assigned work order task daily by the Maintenance Foreman and provide status updates on the completion of task by providing and maintaining service reports. If needed, this position will be responsible for submitting work orders to the Facilities Management Division (FMD) for maintenance task beyond the scope of the work for the position.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
Troubleshooting skills for commercial kitchen equipment using schematic and manuals.

Basic plumbing, electrical work, and general maintenance skills.

Good communication skills, both written and verbal.

Develop and maintain professional relationships with a wide range of staff and various customer groups, also demonstrates supportive involvement in work environment. 

Work as a team member, but also make effective independent decisions and follow through on assignments.

Efficiently utilize a variety of computer applications in the completion of assigned tasks.
Physical Demands
Climb stairs and ladders, may work from a ladder or scaffold.
Bend at the waist and knees.
Work with arms and hands overhead for an extended period.
Use, care and maintain hand tools and power tools.
Navigate and maneuver through confined spaces, crawling in utility tunnels, attics, pipe chases, etc.
Lift and move items of 75 pounds in weight, both assisted and unassisted.
May occasionally perform work related duties outdoors in hot or cold temperature conditions.
Safely operate a UGA state vehicle, as necessary.

Perform a wide variety of mechanical and building trade task in the maintenance and repair of Dining Services facilities including plumbing, electrical work, painting, simple construction and fabrication. Perform inspections and preventative maintenance for all Dining facilities. If needed, submit work orders to the Facilities Management Division (FMD).
