Provide order structure and direct all activities within the Automation group.
Responsible for the set-up of closing and assembly equipment to support manufacturing. This would include closing machines, assembly machines, conveyance equipment, AGV’s, Vision systems, lining machines, heat guns, height detectors, and any other related equipment.
Handle all personnel issues within the group, staffing, training, discipline, as well as reviews and timesheets.
Provide coaching and opportunities for the development of Automation Technicians to enhance their skills to better support production’s needs.
Direct and participate in machine setup, repair to equipment, preventative maintenance, and enhancements to meet or exceed expected rates.
Troubleshoot secondary equipment problems and assign appropriate technical help.
Communicate to other departments the status of machines and their condition.
Help drive automation downtime lower.
Work closely with molding room personnel and provide any needed support to achieve room objectives.
Purchase spare parts using SAP.
Develop and create plans for the Automation apprentice program, track hours and facilitate the training for the apprentices.
Required Qualifications
Education
High School Diploma/GED
Engineering or Mechatronics Degree equivalency
Experience:
5 years Automation experience
Supervisory Experience preferred
Skills
Leadership ability.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Basic skills in reading, writing and math.
Must be willing to have flexible work hours
