BID ADMINISTRATOR
Description

JOB FUNCTION:

The Bid Administrator is responsible for processing customer requests for discounted pricing through professional and efficient completion of required documentation in a manner that is satisfactory to the customer while maintaining profitability.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Review customer requests for evaluation of available discounts.
  • Work with customer to accurately meet customer's need and identify appropriate products.
  • Provide discounts using categorical pricing guidelines, recaps, and historical data.
  • Calculate shipping costs as necessary.
  • Accurately and efficiently complete all required documentation associated with providing discounted pricing through RFPs (Request for Proposals), Bids, RFQs (Request for Quotes), Pricing Requests, etc.
  • Accurately and efficiently maintain discounted pricing in current operating system.
  • Coordinate with Sales, Merchandising and Procurement teams to assist customers as needed.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of competitor trends.
  • Maintain a list of potential product offerings.
  • Assist with maintenance of competitor database.
  • Assist with special projects and large accounts as needed.
  • Utilize Excel spreadsheets when available to streamline workflow and assist with analyzing future opportunities.
  • Provide assistance to additional departments as needed.
  • Special projects as assigned.


Requirements

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • 3 - 5 years minimum office experience or equivalent.
  • Ability to accurately type 30-35 wpm.
  • Ability to complete work accurately within stringent deadlines.
  • Use of mainframe and personal computer with emphasis on Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Must be able to work with people and have excellent customer service skills.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong math/analytical skills, understanding of margin calculations and profitability analysis.
  • Exercise independent judgement regarding margin/financials.
  • Ability to read and write in English.
