Job Description

General Internal Medicine (F6/5) is a fast-paced medical unit that offers challenging and rewarding nursing opportunities.

We are seeking a Registered Nurse:

  • Help provide high-quality, patient-centered care in a professional environment that fosters and values collaboration, respect, and education.
  • Join a team of remarkable nurses and have the opportunity to care for general care patients with complex medical diagnoses.
  • The General Internal Medicine Unit is a 28-bed inpatient, general medicine unit focused on high-quality patient care and medical education. The unit is home to all three general medicine teaching services; most of F6/5's patients are on these services.
  • You may also care for "Special Pathogens" populations.

Education:
Preferred - Baccalaureate degree in nursing.

Work Experience:
Minimum - One (1) year relevant clinical experience.

Preferred - Two (2) years of recent experience in acute care in medical/surgical nursing.

Licenses and Certifications:
Minimum - Registration as a professional nurse in the State of Wisconsin. CPR certification.
Preferred - Medical-Surgical Nurse Certification.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge regarding quality improvement and standards of care within practice area.
  • Experience in teaching patients and families.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively delegate and supervise the work of other nursing team members.

Physical Requirements:
Medium: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds.

Work Schedule: 90%FTE, 36 hours per week. This is an Evening/Night position with variable (8) eight and (12) twelve-hour shifts between 1500-2300, 1900-0700, and 2300-0700. Every other weekend. Holiday rotation required. No On Call required. Hours may vary based on operational needs of department.
