The Position

Michael Best is seeking a Docketing Specialist in our Waukesha Office. The IP Docketing Specialist will work closely with the Docketing Manager and Intellectual Property practice group to analyze, update, and maintain records on docketing software.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Utilize IP-specific software (Anaqua) to calendar and docket all IP-related activities for patent, trademark and copyright matters
  • Adhere to department and firm policies related to docketing matters and procedures.
  • Manage projects related to IP docketing.
  • Create accurate customized client reports.
  • Other docketing projects and tasks, as assigned.

The Location

We have offices in Milwaukee, Madison, Manitowoc and Waukesha, WI; Chicago, IL; Raleigh, NC; Washington, D.C.; Broomfield and Denver, CO; Salt Lake City and Cottonwood Heights, UT; and Austin, TX. Our contemporary office designs are ideal for concentration and collaboration and support a culture where we work together to make good things happen for our clients. This position is located in our Waukesha, WI office.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics:

  • Knowledge of US and foreign patent & trademark procedures
  • Strong substantive knowledge of docketing requirements as well as being analytical, organized, highly motivated, proactive and communicative. Candidate must also be a problem solver and a team player with the ability to exercise independence and professional judgment in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines and flexibility to appropriately manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Demonstrated "client first" mentality: responsive, flexible, adaptable

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Intellectual Property experience with patents preferred
  • Experience in legal industry or professional service industry is preferred
  • Paralegal certificate or Bachelor's degree is a plus

Other:

Valid authorization to work in the U.S.
