Job Description

We are seeking a Registered Nurse to:

  • Become a member of one of the world's foremost organ transplant programs. UW Health physicians are recognized experts in their field, providing care to patients in our heart, lung, kidney, liver, pancreas, intestine, islet cell and pediatric transplant programs.
  • Provide nursing care and education to patients with complex medical needs in clinic and on the phone.
  • Provide nursing care to patients undergoing transplant biopsies and providing infusion therapies.
  • Provide quality care in a compassionate and patient-family centered environment.

Education:

Preferred - Bachelor of Science - Nursing (BSN)

Work Experience:

Minimum - One (1) year relevant clinical experience.

Preferred - Additional years of relevant clinical nursing experience. Prior involvement in clinical procedures in area of specialty, including successful work or involvement in other hospital-wide project work. Experience in an academic medical setting.

Licenses and Certifications:

Minimum - Registration as a professional nurse in the State of Wisconsin. CPR certification.

Preferred - Certification in area of specialty.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge regarding quality improvement and standards of care within practice area.
  • Excellent communication skills. Ability to delegate effectively and supervise the work of other nursing team members.
  • Demonstrated ability to use critical thinking skills.
  • Expertise in triaging patients and identification of resource availability.
  • Skilled in problem solving techniques.
  • Skilled in team development.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and be flexible with daily job-related duties.
  • Ability to work effectively with health care professionals across settings.
  • Knowledge of, and familiarity with word processing, data base management and electronic communication.
  • Knowledge and skills in quality improvement and research methodologies.
  • Training in universal precautions and working knowledge of procedures to minimize risk-related to blood borne pathogens.
  • This position may be required to occasionally work holiday and/or weekend hours

Physical Requirements:

Medium: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds.

Work Schedule:

10% FTE, 8 hours per pay period, Per Diem position. Shifts will be within the hours of 7:30 am - 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday. No weekends/holidays. Hours may vary based on the operational needs of the department.
