Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Machine Repair/Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing duties to repair and maintain machinery, equipment, building and facilities requiring a broad knowledge of maintenance skills including mechanical repair, plumbing, welding, carpentry, fabrication and a basic knowledge of electrical repair.
2ND SHIFT (ENTRY LEVEL) 12 00 PM -8 00 PM (hours may be flexible mid-shift)/ $20 HOURLY
Responsibilities
Install, repair, rebuild, and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment used in production and related services.
Diagnose machine malfunctions and operating difficulties.
Make repairs or adjustments to keep equipment in production.
Rebuild machines and overhaul troublesome components and attachments to involve dismantling, inspection, machining or replacement of purchased parts.
Perform skilled operations such as filing and aligning bearings, spindles, and shafts; adjust feed and limit mechanisms, gibs, and ways.
Perform various activities relative to the installation and relocation of existing machines and equipment to involve dismantling, erection, leveling, fitting and aligning operations.
Perform maintenance on the buildings, facilities, and the grounds.
Assist to determine the nature and scope of forthcoming projects and the requirements for completion.
Perform preventive maintenance on heating, ventilating, and air conditioning units.
Maintain required maintenance logs and files.
Perform routine housekeeping activities in the department and ensure adherence to established safety procedures and requirements.
Complete special projects as assigned.
Fabricates replacement components with direction from managers/supervisors and/or team leaders in order to affect in-house repairs and/or modify machinery and equipment to improve efficiency.
Requires personal maintenance equipment to perform duties such as wrench, wire cutters, screw drivers, etc.
Requirements
Requires a broad knowledge of mechanical repair and maintenance as may be acquired in three years formalized program including blueprint reading and interpretation plus up to three years extensive experience in a variety of maintenance trades.
Strong problem solving and electrical and/or mechanical skills required. Capable of examining a problem systematically and be able to solve the problem.
Demonstrated ability to understand and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, diagrams, engineering specifications and operating instructions.
Working knowledge of electronic circuitry, electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic concepts, and operating safety.
Basic operating knowledge of relay and programmable controllers for mechanical equipment.
Knowledge of CNC machines experience with Mazak Mills/Turning centers, Haas, Tsugami and/or STARs CNC machines including all mechanical knowledge (hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical) preferred.
Requires demonstrated ability to operate various tools and equipment to include various hand and power tools commonly used in the electrical, electronic, metal working and mechanical trades, as well as metal fabrication equipment, welding equipment, plumbing equipment, and various measuring equipment.
The basic understanding of OHSA rules and regulations such as lockout/tagout, machine guarding hot work, hazards communications and other safe working practices.
Must be able to read and write clearly and concisely in English.
Ability to read, understand and interpret documents such as work instructions, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Attention to detail filling out paperwork from work tickets to preventative maintenance orders.
