What You Will Contribute:
A Manufacturing Process Engineer- Plastics is responsible for assisting with sustaining engineering's current product support issues, customer trouble shooting, and validation testing. This position will assist with defining test plans and product implementations. This position will apply engineering fundamentals to test scenarios, troubleshooting, and analyze tolerances on design. This individual must have the willingness and ability to learn, work effectively in a multi-discipline team, demonstrate effective problem solving, initiative, and motivation.

Main Job Duties:
  • Perform tool tryouts and qualify new injection molds.
  • Conduct repeatability and reproducibility experiments of plastic injection molding processes to investigate manufacturing improvements related to quality control.
  • Work with schedulers and production to qualify molds to run in multiple injection molding machines, develop best practices and standards for qualifying parts.
  • Analyze test results in relation to design or rated specifications and make modifications.
  • Record test procedures and results, numerical and graphical data, and recommend changes in process, product, or test method.
  • Identify problems relating to the product because of process, collaborate with quality to identify issues and troubleshoot.
  • Develop plastic processing project instructions to determine test specifications, procedures, objectives, test equipment, nature of technical problems.
  • Assist with sustaining engineering - current product support/issues, customer trouble shooting, validation
  • Assist in defining test plans / production implementations
  • Writes product work instructions / process documents
  • Initiates and implements engineering change requests
  • Accountable to mentor or lead
  • Perform product and design verification tests
  • Learn and navigate Badger Meter systems and procedures
  • Gain familiarization with Badger Meter product portfolio
  • Understand manufacturing processes required for product
  • Become familiar with the Badger Meter safety policies


Discipline: Manufacturing
  • Maintain an effective project planning and control system so that projects meet cost and timing objectives.
  • Exposure to safe, reliable and cost-effective equipment and processes that assure the production of products at established safety, quality, delivery and cost objectives.
  • Support Manufacturing /Production in a timely manner by troubleshooting production issues.
  • Initial involvement in New Product Development teams.
  • Initial involvement in manufacturing sustainability activities.
  • Develop financial analysis and justification of new processes and equipment and initiate capital asset requests for such equipment.
  • Make effective use of appropriate quality techniques to assure the highest possible product quality.


Qualifications:
  • 4 year degree or 2 year technical program is preferred
  • 3 years of injection molding experience or plastics manufacturing knowledge
  • Ability to read and comprehend engineering drawings
  • Ability to apply engineering fundamentals to test scenarios
  • Knowledge of engineered resin
  • Ability to analyze tolerances on a design
  • Ability to communicate effectively (oral and written)
  • Ability to operate on a manufacturing floor as applicable
  • Ability to work effectively in a multi-discipline team
