Job Description
                                                                                       MIG WELDER NEEDED
MUST BE ABLE TO DO THE FOLLOWING OPERATIONS:


 Fabricate and weld company products from steel to meet customer and company standards. Analyze work orders, specifications and blueprints to determine materials to be used, project planning and layout, and assembly sequences. Perform hand grinding and polishing as needed. Operate overhead crane, drill, presses, etc. Plan and select welding procedures to obtain maximum weld strengths and alignment on a variety of parts and fixtures. Work from drawings and layouts. Requires a thorough knowledge of welding techniques, material characteristics and structural fundamentals. 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties maybe assigned. 
Sets up own welding machine for MIG welding procedures. 
Edge bevels welding joints with a cutting torch.
Back gouges weld joints with air-arc process.
Grinds welds. 
Straightens distorted pieces using a  hydraulic press.
Bands and marks identification on completed jobs.
Final inspection of pieces.
Fits and tack welds assemblies together using blue print, specifically curved weldments.
Performs miscellaneous operations such as drilling, sawing, grinding, shearing, etc.
Ability to make structurally sound and cosmetically good looking welds on a wide variety of parts ranging from 1/4" diameter rings to very large flat bar rings

Education and/or Experience
High school education; related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Requires a minimum of 4-6 years of experience to proficiently perform the job duties.
 
Mathematical Skills                                                   
Sufficient math and geometry (knowledge o f the parts of a circle, radius, diameter, chord, arc length, and degree of bend, etc.) skills to allow for making the calculations necessary for determining required dimensions, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
 
Reasoning Ability                                                      
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.   
  
Other Qualifications
Ability to safely rig and move heavy loads using the overhead bridge crane and jib crane. 
Ability to eye sight to measure and read tape measure quickly and accurately.
Ability to use a cutting torch to produce accurate bevels and weld joints.
Ability to use a wide variety of metal working machinery, such as a band saw or abrasive cutoff saw.
Ability to recognize various structural shapes. 
Ability to read and work off of blue prints.
Ability to read and understand job instructions.
Ability to interpret weld symbol 
Ability to certify AWS D1.1 Structural.
Experience using rolling machine and/or brake press a plus, not required
