Job Description

We are seeking a Medical Assistant to:

  • Join the UW Health Burn and Wound team who provides quality care for both adults and pediatric patients from the time of injury through discharge and rehabilitation.
  • Work collaboratory to provide care and education to patients.
  • Promote healthy lifestyles, wellness, and education.

Education:

Minimum -

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or Licensure as an LPN or Completion of the UW Health Medical Assistant Apprenticeship program or Completion of CCMA as a UW Health employee or
  • In lieu of the above requirements, two (2) years of recent Medical Assistant experience and current CMA, RMA or CCMA certification

Work Experience:

Minimum - Will consider new Medical Assistant and LPN graduates.

Preferred - One (1) year experience as a Certified Medical Assistant or LPN.

Licenses and Certifications:

Minimum -

  • Certified as CMA, RMA or CCMA or eligible for certification. Certification must be obtained within one year of hire from date of hire.
  • If applying in lieu of Medical Assistant education or LPN licensure, must have current CMA, RMA, or CCMA certification at time of hire
  • CPR/BLS certification.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to make judgments in demanding situations.
  • Ability to react to frequent changes in duties and volume of work.
  • Commitment to respectful patient and family-centered care.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.

Physical Requirements:
Medium: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds.

Work Schedule:
This is a full-time, 40 hours per week position scheduled to work Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with rotating clinic late shift duties. No weekends or holidays are required. Hours may vary based on the needs of the department.

Pay: UW Health offers a competitive compensation and benefits package. Work experience that is relevant to the position will be taken into consideration when determining the starting base pay.

Sign-On Bonus: This position is eligible for up to a $3,000 sign-on bonus.
