Job Description
Do you speak Spanish, Burmese, Hmong, Arabic or Rohingya?  You might be the candidate we are looking for!  SSCHC is hiring a responsible and dependable individual to fill our opening.  No experience needed.  We will train you on the job.  We can't wait to meet you!

Responsibilities:

WIC Assistant Responsibilities
  1. Performs intake for WIC certifications, which includes:
    • Reviewing and documenting proof of income, address, identification, and pregnancy.
    • Determining income eligibility.
    • Determining if a lead test is necessary, obtaining consent, and documenting lead results obtained from WIR in ROSIE.
    • Explaining and completing the WIC Rights and Responsibilities form.
  2. Greets WIC participants and assesses for appropriate non-certification contacts, routes to necessary services.
  3. Reviews immunization records and enters immunization status of infants and children in ROSIE.
  4. Answers and attends to all incoming calls; transfers all non-WIC calls to appropriate departments.
  5. Schedules WIC appointments by phone and in person.
  6. Makes appointment and benefit reminders via call, text or email.
  7. Reschedules missed appointments as assigned.
  8. Processes both in-state and out-of-state transfers of WIC certifications as needed.
  9. Refers participants to additional social services and programs when indicated.
  10. Issues appropriate WIC and FMNP benefits.
  11. Offers and documents secondary education contacts for applicable participants.
  12. Provides accurate WIC Program information, which includes:
    • correct usage of WIC benefits.
    • approved WIC vendors and foods.
    • program eligibility and appointment requirements.
  13. Performs routine office tasks such as ensuring forms and supplies are stocked, making copies, and scanning and storing documents in eFile.
  14. Assists with daily opening and closing procedures, securing technology, and protecting confidential forms and information by locking cabinets and doors.
Health Screening Job Responsibilities:
  1. Performs routine laboratory duties, which includes:
  • Obtaining height and weight measurements of women, infants and children and documenting results in ROSIE.
  • Determining the need for and performing hemoglobin and blood lead tests on WIC participants; documenting in ROSIE and accompanying hard copy logs per CLIA protocol.
  • Analyzing blood lead samples obtained by SSCHC Lead Outreach Program in a timely fashion, completing and delivering appropriate paperwork.
  • Performing quality testing daily or more frequently as needed; documenting per CLIA protocol.
  • Making appropriate referrals for elevated blood lead levels via fax, phone or in person.
  1. Maintains general order and cleanliness of assessment area and equipment.
  2. Monitors inventory of medical supplies; orders necessary items monthly.
  3. Assists WIC participants with transport throughout the clinic.
Overall Job Responsibilities
  1. Uses person-centered skills to provide excellent customer service to clients and co-workers.
  2. Interprets for staff as needed and utilizes interpreter services as appropriate.
  3. Maintains effective clinic flow through the monitoring of automated queuing system.
Qualifications:
  1. High School Diploma or GED.
  2. Must have strong customer service skills and be detail oriented.
  3. Must relate well with people from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
  4. Must have ability to learn rapidly and work cooperatively with others.
  5. Must have the ability to withstand the stress of a job that requires the knowledge of many details.
  6. Bilingual (Spanish/English, Hmong/English, Burmese/English, Arabic/English, Rohingya/English) required; must pass proficiency test.
