Job Description

Practice as a Clinical Speech Language Pathologist at the American Family Children's Hospital.

We are seeking a Pediatric Voice, Swallow, and Craniofacial Clinical Speech Language Pathologist to:

  • Work at a nationally known state of the art Voice and Swallow Center.
  • Work clinically and academically with a multidisciplinary team that includes physicians and speech language pathologists
  • Perform diagnostics including: acoustics, aerodynamics, stroboscopy, and flexible endoscopy
  • Develop new programs and outreach opportunities
  • Contribute to learning experiences for residents, medical students, speech pathologist and clinical fellows.
  • Be involved with clinical research and continuing education.
  • Work in a cutting-edge clinical environment at multiple locations throughout UW Health Systems.
  • Have the ability and willingness to learn diagnostics and treatment associated with subspecialty.

Education:
Minimum - Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology.

Work Experience:
Minimum - Experience in diagnostics, which may include acoustics, aerodynamics, stroboscopy, high speed imaging, flexible endoscopy, videofluoroscopy, and/or high resolution manometry. Experience in providing voice, airway, resonance, and swallow therapy.

Preferred - Three (3) or more years of experience in subspecialized voice, airway, resonance, and swallow medical setting preferred. Contribution to local or national professional boards and committees (such as ASHA or state-level speech and hearing associations). Record of presentation at national and regional professional conferences.

Licenses and Certifications:
Minimum - Wisconsin Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) license. ASHA certified (CCC-SLP) or eligible for certification. Certification in Healthcare Provider Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Automatic External Defibrillator.

Preferred - BCSS preferred for swallow subspecialty.

  • Organization, time management, flexibility, and positive attitude are crucial to successful performance.
  • Ability to collaborate with peers while being open and approachable
  • Ability to be flexible in schedule and approach to meet the department's operational needs
  • Ability and willingness to learn diagnostics and treatment associated with subspecialty

Physical Requirements:
Light: Ability to lift up to 20 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds.

Work Schedule:
This is a part-time, 20 hours per week position scheduled to work day shift. Monday through Friday between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm. Some days may start at 7:30 am. No weekends are required. Occasional holiday coverage is required. Hours may vary based on the needs of the department.
