Job Description

What you will do

The role of the Technical Cost Engineer is to support and develop accurate product costs and to provide the necessary follow up within the organization. Basic knowledge of product and process is required, as you learn to bring reasonableness to the details. Need to support in the data collection of regional projects and corporate initiatives, with the potential of bringing business perspective to the data.

How you will do it

  • Development of product cost models: material usage, material cost, equipment requirements, labor requirements, cycle times, tooling and capital requirements for new business or changes to current business;
  • Review complex bill of materials for reasonableness
  • Review manufacturing assumptions for reasonableness
  • Communicate / Educate internal and external organizations regarding the cost data. This includes supplier financial and organizational leadership
  • Rate Development - typical manufacturing needs (process, labor, overhead, etc)
  • Set cost targets of purchased items.
  • Support Purchasing negotiations.
  • Support regional and corporate initiatives
  • Ability to bridge financial data
  • Actively contribute to departmental initiatives/process improvements to enhance the overall department's effectiveness.
  • Commitment to use global costing procedures and tools

Qualifications

What we look for

  • Four Year College Technical Degree (Finance, Business, or Engineering desired). Masters desired.
  • 5+ years of experience in financial analysis, product costing and/or engineering.
  • Experience within the Automotive or Consumer Products Industry, desired.
  • Foreign language skills desired.
  • Strong computer skills, i.e., MS Office, especially Excel.
  • Interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Occasional travel required
