Job Description
SUMMARY
Operation of wax injection presses to produce wax patterns, inspection of wax patterns, and trim and patch of patterns.  Use small tools such as a hand torch, hot knife, trim knives, etc. to prepare wax patterns and assemble wax molds in accordance with specified quality requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Examines all shop order paperwork instructions, and verifies accuracy of wax type being used, press parameter settings, quality requirements, alloy or part number inserts (when applicable), and all special instructions within the work packet.  Reports any deviations immediately.
  • Injects patterns, inspects, trims, and patches wax patterns, sprues, gates, and feeders as required in accordance with quality parameters.
  • Marks patterns using permanent marker with product number, and employee identification number, and places them on trays, boards, or fixtures as required. Uses permanent markers to write product number, alloy, and employee identification number in ceramic pouring cups.
  • Assembles and seals all parts and ceramic pouring cups as indicated in the shop order instruction packet, attaches a bar code label, and places on conveyor to be transported to the Dip Room.
  • Properly handle dies, inspects for wax buildup with maximum interval of 25 cycles between inspections.
  • Keeps patterns separated by product number.
  • Retrieves all necessary supplies and equipment, such as wax billets, empty racks, trays, boards, etc.
  • Disposes of scrap and cleans area at the end of jobs or shift. 
  • Examines all shop order paperwork instructions and verifies the accuracy of parts to be assembled.
  • Accurately records all required production data.
  • Performs duties in a safe manner and follows all of the safety procedures.
  • Undergoes required training in applicable work instructions, Quality Assurance procedures, and quality polices.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or six to twelve months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
 
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
