Job Description
Position Title: Catering Server
Job: Part time, $18 per hour
Supervisor: Catering Captain, Lead Catering Captain, Event Coordinators, Event Managers
Date:  06/2021

General Purpose: Set up/break down events, provide Museum event guests with prompt, efficient and courteous service of food and beverage resulting in a superior experience.
 
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
  •   Set up events as directed by supervisors to include but not limited to linen placement, pulling/polishing of flatware, china, and glassware, pulling of disposables and setting of station equipment/signage and dump station with a thorough break down at event conclusion.
  •   Serve food and beverage to event guests, clear items after each course, replenish utensils and refill glasses as needed and directed while understanding and demonstrating proper attention of time.
  •   Assess, anticipate and accommodate guests’ needs in a courteous and prompt manner while addressing any complaints or concerns with corrective action.  
  •   Operate and clean all equipment associated with event service, to include but not limited to coffee machines, chafing dishes, etc.
  •   Remain current on knowledge of event details to include but not limited to food and beverage selections, event agenda, timing, etc.
  •   Maintain knowledge of venue and facility information to include but not limited to names and locations of various Museum event spaces, wayfinding (entrances/exits, restrooms, gallery accessibility if applicable, parking, etc), setting up and break down protocols.
  •   Keep work area clean, safe, sanitary, stocked and organized while remaining constant as you work from set up to break down.
  •   Set example of professional behavior, cooperation, and responsibility with event guests and MAM colleagues.
  •   Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:
  •   High School Diploma or equivalency preferred.
  •   Previous guest service experience preferred.
  •   Ability to multitask; work with minimal supervision, and exercise initiative.
  •   Ability to maintain organization, meet service standards, and possess integrity.
  •   Knowledge of point of sale and cash handling is a plus.
  •   Ability to proactively solve problems and deal with stress effectively.
  •   Ability to interpret a variety of instructions written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Physical Requirements:
Reach, bend, stoop and wipe.  Utilize service tray for carrying guest beverages and clearing used tableware to and from
culinary and dump stations. Good communication skills.  Walks and stands during entire shift. Willingness to smile and learn.
