Job Description

The Manager of Sustaining Products will organize and lead a multi-discipline engineering group responsible for maintaining the design and certification of high-reliability, safety-critical, airborne products to enable ongoing production and repair. This team will be the initial and primary interface for debugging production product failures, troubleshooting test equipment, and performing sustaining engineering activities (EOL, quality investigations, etc.)

Position Responsibilities:
* Direct manager of the team responsible for employment decisions, performance reviews, mentoring technical and leadership talent development.
* Perform project leadership to maintain multiple fielded product designs for sustained production, and repair, including modifications for obsolete parts
* Team responsibilities include maintenance of production test equipment, including preventive maintenance, modification, and/or redesign, to ensure reliable operation for ongoing production and repair of product
* Support production line and repair station personnel with troubleshooting product failures and yield issues
* Work closely with process engineering, manufacturing engineering and quality assurance to refine processes and testing requirements to maximize production efficiency
* Coordinate Sustaining and Design team activities associated with production change requests
* Work closely with design engineering to identify and resolve product and test equipment design flaws, including root cause and corrective action process
* Participate in Phase Gate Reviews to stay abreast of new product introductions and identify design elements that will improve manufacturing and reparability of future products
* Work closely with purchasing and material to resolve part acceptability questions
* Coordinate with product line management on commercial constraints and customer concurrence changes needed for continued production and reparability of products

Required Qualifications:
* Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or physical sciences from an accredited institution
* Minimum of 10 years of experience in electronics design and development including at least two years as a team or project leader
* Previous experience working with a manufacturing facility in an NPI capacity
* Experience mentoring and developing engineering and leadership talent
* Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills
* Strong communication skills (verbal, written and group presentations)
* Exhibits interpersonal skills necessary to address business issues and conflicts that arise across organizational boundaries
* Permanently eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship
* Able to obtain and maintain a security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:
* Degree in electrical, mechanical, or computer engineering
* Experience with hands-on troubleshooting and repair of electronic products
* Experience leading and managing multi-discipline engineering groups
* Experience applying RTCA DO-160, DO-254, and DO-178
* Experience with FAA certified product development (TSO and/or STC/TC)
