Job Description JOB SUMMARY The Global Quality Assurance (QA) organization provides a variety of services aimed at helping its internal customers, S&C leaders,and team members, deliver superior quality to our customers.We are seeking aproject levelmechanicalengineer experienced inthe design and development ofautomatedtest systemassemblies,fixtures,and toolingfor production.This position is part of the QAAutomationTest Engineering group and has primary responsibility for specifying, designing, building,programming,verification & validation testing, commissioning, deployment,and technical support for automated testsystemsused in S&C's Production Operationsand Contract Manufacturers.The successful candidate willreport to the Manager - Automation Test EngineeringandbelocatedinS&C's Franklin, WI location.Some travel will be requiredto other S&C locations, S&C suppliers, and contract manufacturers. AutomationTest Engineersareembedded inagilenew product development teams,as well asinexistingproduct engineering andproductionoperations teams.As part ofthese teams,youwillparticipate in scrum and sprint meetings and work closely with the product owners and developers to ensure the concurrent development of the automated test systems meet all the product test requirements for the new products being developed. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following: Develop and establish the specifications and requirements for the development ofautomated test systems and equipmentto meet specified product test requirements. Design, develop,build,andimplement automated testsystemassemblies, fixtures,and tooling equipment to meet specified product test requirements for S&C products. Interacting withS&C and contractmanufacturing teams toanalyze anduse quality feedbackand datato improve product testing processes. Assessing existing production testsystems equipmentand suggesting opportunities for improvement, using tools such as DFMEA, DFMA, and performance testing. Creating test cases, test plans,and test programs to implement the product test requirements and test cases in the automated test systems. Escalating unresolved issues totheappropriate internal teams and leadership. Preparing and conducting Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) plans, Commissioning Test plans,andSite Acceptance Test (SAT) plansfor automated test systems. PreparingAutomation Test Plansand training Product Engineering, Production,andContractManufacturingOperations team members instandard workfor operating the automated test systems. Interfacing with internal and external test equipment designers to ensure thatallproduct test specifications andtestsystemspecifications are met. Coaching, training,mentoringand reviewingthework ofless experienced team members. To select this job as one of interest to you, at a minimum, you must have the following: Bachelor's degree inMechanical, Manufacturing,or IndustrialEngineeringis required. 6to10years ofexperience designing and developingautomated test system assemblies, fixtures,and tooling forproduction. Strong skills and experience in 3D CAD modeling and design tools (Solid Edge,Solidworks). Strong skills and experiencecreating and maintainingdesign files andBOMsusing PLM tools (Enovia 3DX, SmarTeam). Understanding ofbothelectrical powerand mechanicalengineering principles. Experience in medium/high volume manufacturing of highly reliableelectronic, electrical,andmechanical systems. Well-versed in DFM/DFT techniques. Experience with tolerance analysis, GD&T, FEA, and FMEA. Proficiencyin usinglab instrumentationandrapid prototypingequipment(3D printing,data acquisition systems, scopes, DMMs,load cells, force gauges,electrical & pneumatic actuators,etc.). Prefer candidates with experience in the design and development ofautomated test system assemblies, fixtures,and tooling fortesting high voltage equipment such as reclosers, circuit breakers, switches, vacuum interrupters,and actuators. Prefer candidates withexperience working with factory automation and robotsfor automated assembly lines and inspection. Prefer candidates with LabViewsoftwareexperience. Ability to work hands-on, independently, and in cross-functional, multi-culturalproject teams. Ability to interface with internal customersand stakeholdersto define project scope, requirements,and plans. Knowledge of Quality Management Systems, specifically ISO:9001. Ability to use Microsoft products and CAD tools such asZuken E3, AutoCAD, Visio. Experience usingagile management and defect tracking tools (Confluence, JIRA). Enthusiasm, drive, a sense of urgency with strong interpersonal, communication, collaboration,and teaming skills. Proven ability to manage working on multiple projects at a time while paying strict attention to detail. Capacity to deal with a high workload and deadline pressure includingtheability to work extended hours as necessary to meet deadlines. MAJOR PHYSICAL DEMANDS Standing: Occasional, during test observations. Lifting: Occasional light lifting. Walking: Occasional walking of moderate distances (1 mile) within the S&C complex. Bending: Occasional bending. Reaching: Occasional reaching. Handling: Occasional handling of parts and tools. Environment: Consists of an office environment, factoryfloor,and at times working in a test lab.
