Job Description

PURPOSE

Create and implement manufacturing methods and systems, with the goal of minimalizing the cost while increasing productivity.Standardizing production procedure to increase efficiency in all operations.

*Work as part of a manufacturing team reporting to the Manufacturing Manager assisting with all areas supporting product flow through the facility

*Review development of production cells, capital expenditures of equipment needed to increase production.

*Work with weld fitters to identify areas where slot and tab design can be incorporated to improve part accuracy and improve set up time

*Work with assemblers to make modifications to the equipment to assist with the safe smooth build of our products

*Review material handling throughout entire manufacturing process and add holes and lifting hooks where required to the drawings

*Manage the Bills of Materials so all Engineering Change Orders can be effectively tracked and most recent rev is always available for the procurement team

*Provide Engineering support to procurement team.

*Review product design and make suggestions around efficiency improvements within the design at no cost to overall structural integrity or quality

*Design and/or procure Jigs, fixtures, rotators, positioners where a cost-effective argument can be made to improving product flow, quality and staff safety.

*Present all modifications and design improvements to engineering so new ideas can be incorporated into future products.

*Design and improve machine systems and components for performance, reliability, manufacturing, styling and industry leading innovation.

*Coordinate and/or perform testing of newly designed machine components and configurations assisting in solutions to customer needs and requests.

*Work closely with customers to resolve field issues, understand needs, identify and implement machine improvements.

*Lead Engineering interns providing direction, system training, procedural training, culminating in an interactive and meaningful experience in the engineering field and heavy manufacturing industry.

*Work closely with assembly contractors incorporating their needs into an integrated machine design.

*Work with suppliers understanding their capabilities and answer any inquiries.

*Assist with machine retrofit design, manufacturing, and installation.

*Create and maintain machine part books for traceability and end user clarity

The candidate must have a good understanding of lean manufacturing principles and have a good track record of developing and implementing process improvements

Strong ability in CAD and 3D modeling

Experience with sheet metal design.Creo/ProE experience is a bonus but not essential

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • B.A. in Mechanical Engineering or related degree
  • 2+ years of manufacturing experience
