Job Description
Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you! Based in our South Milwaukee, WIlocation, the Automation Engineer is a dynamic role that combines technical andcommunication skills to ensure that the facility meets all governmental requirements for safety, quality and productivity. As the Automation Engineer, you will be in the unique role to interact with all internal departments, corporate IT support staff and external contractorsin order tomaintain and improve electrical controls.As an Automation Engineer you will: Maintain and enforce safety programs to ensure a safe environment for all employeesMonitor facility systems utilizing various computer software programsEvaluate and improve electrical control systems including PLC data collection and displayTroubleshoot multiple manufacturers electrical components and input/output devicesAssist and train onsite electricians in troubleshooting equipment electrical issuesMonitor and troubleshoot facility electrical systems including high voltage Provide electrical planning assistance in multiple capital projects WHO YOU ARE:You acquire data from multiple and diverse sources when solving problems.You rely on a mixture of analysis, wisdom, experience, and judgment when making decisions. You maintain relationships across a variety of functions and locations. REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:Bachelor of Electrical Engineering orequivalent education with solid, proven history of electrical controlscapabilitiesFive plus years working in a manufacturingenvironment with automation control systemsFoundry equipment experience a strong plusStrong PLC knowledge with understanding ofmultiple manufacturing systemsAbility to connect equipment input/outputdata into facility computer monitoring systemKnowledge of Wonderware for datacollection and display is a strong plusKnowledge of NFPA 70 electrical codesAbility to create ladder diagramsLegal authorization to work in the United States -PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:Ability to develop PLC and HMI softwareprogramsKnowledge and experience in statisticalprocess control methodologyKnowledge and practical experience withlean manufacturing principlesAbility to effectively train electriciansand operators pertaining to control systems
