Job Description
Engineer - Assembly, QualityLocation:Kohler, WIOpportunityThis role will provide technical and engineering support to the business, specifically the generator assembly area, to ensure products meet specification, through control of processes, testing, and verification. The person in this role will ensure smooth operation by driving continuous improvement through defect elimination, structure problem solving with root cause analysis and monitoring actions for effectiveness.Specific Responsibilities:Identify and communicate day-to-day quality issues on the assembly line within the plant.Make decisions related to product quality, serving as the voice of the customer. Work cross-functionally to coordinate containment activities and make disposition on suspect material as not to effect the assembly line and customer.Establish and manage first pass yield data, inspection criteria, finish goods audits, customer field complaint and warranty information to identify quality risks. Collaborate with all functions to establish root cause and drive corrective actions for these risks.Utilize APQP principles to certify processes related to new products and equipment. This includes measurement system analysis (GRR), control plans, capability studies, work instructions, etc. Utilize statistical process control (SPC) tools as necessary.Drive continuous improvement by proactively reducing variation and eliminating defects using tools such as Six Sigma, Shanin, and lean manufacturing.Work with design and manufacturing engineers to determine key product characteristics. Define and improve methods and equipment that will be used to measure key quality characteristics of the process.Train floor associates on new assembly methods and new testing criteria.Mentor quality technicians and inspectors.Demonstrated Skills:Self-starter and is able to work independently and/or with teams.Possesses strong communication skills; both verbal and written.Analytical with a high degree of problem solving skills, and is detail oriented.Has a high sense of urgency, well organized, and manages time and projects effectively.Customer and change oriented.Skills/RequirementsBachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university.1+ years of engineering or Co-Op experience in Industrial Manufacturing required.Applicants must be authorized to work in the US without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.Why Work at Kohler Co.?Kohler Co.'s mission is to contribute to a higher level of gracious living for those who are touched by our products and services.
