Job Description
Job summary: Under the direction of the Process Engineering Supervisor, the Process Engineer will be involved in new product development, process development for new injection mold tooling, and prototype evaluations as well as resolving all mold and mold processing issues on current processes. Essential Functions: * Sample and evaluate all prototype molds, new molds, resins and equipment. * Develop and document injection molding processes using scientific molding principles. * Coordinate mold revisions and repairs to prototype and new molds. * Act as liaisons between Engineering, Quality Assurance, Tool Room, and Manufacturing for mold and process related issues. Key Competencies: * Ability to perform injection mold set ups and start ups * Ability to do viscosity curve studies, gate freeze studies, and find proper transfer position * Good written and oral communication skills * Conducting DOE's and recording results * Ability to understand and interpret SPC and DOE data and results * Ability to use and understand 2 - D Cad drawings * Thorough understanding of Scientific Injection Molding Principles * Good understanding and working knowledge of mold construction and mold set-up Qualifications (skills, knowledge, experience): * High school diploma or equivalent required. Degree or certification in plastic technologies preferred * Advanced experience in all aspects of injection molding - minimum of 10 years preferred * Working knowledge of thermoplastics processing, resin processing characteristics, mold construction, cavity construction, and gate design * Basic computer skills necessary.
