Job Description
Eaton's Power Reliability Division is currently seeking a Project Engineer to join our team. This position is based at our South Milwaukee, WI facility.

The Project Engineer is responsible for executing small and medium projects while meeting schedule, cost and quality targets. This includes leading cross-functional product development teams with elements of planning, risk analysis, costing, product design, reliability testing, prototyping and design for manufacturability.

In this role, you will...
  • Lead projects and cross-functional teams to develop scope, requirements, cost targets, project plans, and service-marketing-production literature.
  • Develop and maintain business case, integrated project plans, communication plans, resource requirements, budget and issue tracking.
  • Identify opportunities within switchgear products and applications to increase value, improve quality and decrease costs.
  • Manage the cost out idea database, maintain deck data integrity and track monthly project savings.
  • Utilize and foster team development of program management methodologies and six sigma principles to drive and track project and product performance.
  • Identify critical path dependencies and risks; develop risk mitigation plans; drive resolution between functions.
  • Provide cross-functional project leadership for concept discussions, verification/validation plans & analyses, PPAP, scorecards, manufacturing processes & equipment, prototypes phase in/out plans, and final production.
  • Create & implement detailed designs utilizing engineering tools that comply with relevant industry standards.
  • Drive design for cost/design for manufacture analysis (DFM/DFA) on individual parts, subassemblies with the ability to propose alternate materials and methods of assembly and manufacturing.

Required (Basic) Qualifications
  • Bachelor degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 3 years of engineering experience
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now and in the future without company sponsorship
  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates that currently reside within the immediate geographical area (50 miles) of the work location will be considered.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with phase gate project management processes
  • Demonstrated expertise leading cross functional teams- engineering, marketing, sourcing, manufacturing.
  • Experience in 3D modeling and creating drawings
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, presentation and written communication skills


Position Success Criteria
  • Demonstrated excellence in communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to travel up to 10%
  • Proficient using Microsoft office software
  • Product design, DFM/DFA and manufacturing knowledge
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards and how they apply to the product, including practice in design verification and validation
  • Six Sigma green/black belt certification
