Job Description
Facility Maintenance Technician                                                                              
Summary:  This role is to participate within the maintenance team towards meeting Swiss-Tech’s company goals and will support the manufacturing operations through upkeep, repair, and preventative maintenance of facility equipment and building.
Essential Duties and/or Responsibilities:
Primary responsibilities of job include but are not limited to the following:
  • Perform general maintenance on plant equipment, building and grounds, and production machinery. 
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on plant equipment such as the air handlers, UF system, solvent still, fork trucks, and floor scrubbers.  Supplement the subcontracted maintenance for the air compressor and the HVAC systems as requested.
  • Repair/modify production machinery.  Fabricate machinery components and replacement parts. Build, repair and install machine guards.
  • Order repair parts and coordinate with subcontractors.  Maintain catalogues, parts lists, operating manuals, names of contact persons, telephone numbers, for plant equipment in files.
  • Make simple electrical installations.  Perform repair on electrical lines and remove obsolete electrical lines.  Perform electrical troubleshooting. 
  • Fabricate IMTE from written or verbal instructions.
  • Adhere to relevant codes and governmental regulations.  Know and understand the plant safety regulations.  Employ proper lifting techniques and other ergonomic principles.
  • Know and understand the relevant sections of ST’s ISO Quality Management System and how they apply to this job.
  • Understand continual improvement principles and their application.  Contribute to continual improvement.
  • Thorough understanding of inspection methods, techniques, and concepts as it applies to inspection principles.
  • Maintain work areas for safe operations by adhering to company safety procedures, polices and shop cleanliness housekeeping standards.
  • Works from blueprints and manuals to perform required work.
  • Identifies parts and/or components required to complete repairs.
  • Installs new machines and relocates existing machines as required.
  • Levels and aligns machinery using all necessary inspection equipment.
  • Performs preventive and predictive maintenance to identify and recommend required work so repairs can be scheduled with minimal interruption to production.
  • Works overtime as required including emergency call-ins (As Needed.)
  • Assists other machine repairmen and maintenance crafts as required.
  • Properly fills out Maintenance Work Requests to ensure accurate records of work performed on all machinery.
  • Assists with any other tasks as needed.

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Computer literate – Capable of creating spreadsheets and documents in Excel and Word. 
  • Must be a “hands-on” individual, with a mindset towards ensuring thoroughness, completeness, efficiency and quality as deliverables are met.
  • Math competency – Technical math skills applicable to the job duties.
  • Must be able to understand and apply all types of complex drawings including electrical and pneumatic schematics.
  • Must have the ability to use all types of inspection equipment: micrometers, indicators, electronic levels, etc.
  • Must have CNC experience.
  • Must have Siemens, Mitsubishi, PLC logic knowledge.

  • Able to operate basic tool room equipment, fork lifts, and most production equipment. Understanding of preventive maintenance.
  • Ability to work on scaffolds, lifts, ladders, and in awkward positions.  Able to lift, manipulate, and position heavy machine components and motors.
  • Read prints, layouts, parts lists, assembly drawings, operating manuals, and troubleshooting instructions.
  • Read, write, and speak English proficiently.  Follow safe practices and observe ergonomic principles and guidelines.
  • Able to organize and manage multiple priorities, and plan with an ability to think ahead.  Must have the ability to leverage a competent skillset including problem solving, task management, and technical skills in a dynamic and diverse production environment.
  • Must have strong conflict resolution skills.  Able to demonstrate an aptitude for communicating cross-culturally with a willingness to provide training to coworkers.

Education/Experience:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • A technical degree is preferred.
  • Position requires a minimum of 5 years of experience as a maintenance technician.
