Responsibilities

Key responsibilities for the Tools Actuary include:

  • Takes complex data and makes it understandable and usable for stakeholders and leaders, so that they can derive insights and ultimately make better business decisions.

  • Identifies modeling needs and executes on building automated tools, user interfaces, and visualizations.

  • Works directly with the Pricing Actuaries, Forecasters, Underwriters, and Leadership to understand business needs/issues and troubleshoot problems.

  • Makes decisions on complex issues regarding technical approach for project components, and work is performed without direction.

  • Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • ASA with at least 3 years of healthcare industry experience or FSA with at least 1 year of healthcare industry experience

  • MAAA

  • Experience performing data analytics and building user interfaces and visualizations

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of actuarial experience

  • Pricing experience

  • Advanced proficiency with SAS & SQL

  • Advanced proficiency with VBA

  • Experience in creating reports, projections, models, and presentations to support business
