The role reports to the Global Reliability Engineering Manager and located in New Berlin, Wisconsin. As a Senior Reliability Engineer, you will be responsible to generate information that leads to superior products and customer experience through continual improvement of quality and reliability.
Your responsibilities
- Identify root causes of product failures by using scientific approach and ABB Drives reliability framework.
- Identify, verify, and propose corrective actions to eliminate failure causes.
- Gather, generate and share knowledge on physics of failure to increase the local and global awareness of reliability.
- Provide tangible and quantified feedback to the global engineering community to support continual improvement of new product designs.
- Participate and lead improvement projects with global teams of internal and external partners.
- Work together with the global supplier base towards more reliable component designs.
Your background
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (preferred Electrical Engineering) and five years of experience in power electronics or electrical field.
- Hands-on experience in electrical fault isolation and physical failure analysis is required.
- Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
- Understanding of Physics of Failure and working knowledge of modern failure analysis techniques.
- Strong ability to understand and interpret schematic and component data sheets.
- Understanding of reliability testing concepts and data analysis.
- Electrical failure analysis using oscilloscopes, signal generators and spectrum analyzers.
- Expertise in analysis of power conversion circuits including active power devices and passive components.
- Effective failure isolation skills through circuit analysis and measurement.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills on Printed Circuit Board Assemblies.
- Excellent documentation and reporting skills.
