The role reports to the Global Reliability Engineering Manager and located in New Berlin, Wisconsin. As a Senior Reliability Engineer, you will be responsible to generate information that leads to superior products and customer experience through continual improvement of quality and reliability.

Your responsibilities

  • Identify root causes of product failures by using scientific approach and ABB Drives reliability framework.
  • Identify, verify, and propose corrective actions to eliminate failure causes.
  • Gather, generate and share knowledge on physics of failure to increase the local and global awareness of reliability.
  • Provide tangible and quantified feedback to the global engineering community to support continual improvement of new product designs.
  • Participate and lead improvement projects with global teams of internal and external partners.
  • Work together with the global supplier base towards more reliable component designs.


Your background

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (preferred Electrical Engineering) and five years of experience in power electronics or electrical field.
  • Hands-on experience in electrical fault isolation and physical failure analysis is required.
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
  • Understanding of Physics of Failure and working knowledge of modern failure analysis techniques.
  • Strong ability to understand and interpret schematic and component data sheets.
  • Understanding of reliability testing concepts and data analysis.
  • Electrical failure analysis using oscilloscopes, signal generators and spectrum analyzers.
  • Expertise in analysis of power conversion circuits including active power devices and passive components.
  • Effective failure isolation skills through circuit analysis and measurement.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills on Printed Circuit Board Assemblies.
  • Excellent documentation and reporting skills.
