The Peck School is a vital home for the arts, presenting more than 350 events each year. Spanning both the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee's main campus and Milwaukee's East Side, Peck School of the Arts maintains a multitude of creative maker spaces, performance halls, innovative research centers, digital labs and other facilities critical to the needs of 21st century artistic teachings and practice. Job Summary The Facilities Repair Worker for the Peck School of the Arts (PSOA), reports directly to the Director of Facilities and is one of four full time staff within the PSOA Facilities and Operations office. The position provides expertise, maintenance, and repair for PSOA Visual and Performance Arts related equipment, venues and studio classrooms. Generally this position is cyclical with the majority of maintenance work occurring during summer and winter recesses. The Facilities Repair Worker works in partnership with the Operations Manager and the Production Manager for determining scheduling of work calls and staffing needs for those work calls. The primary areas of work for the Facilities Repair Worker include: * Installation and maintenance of dance floors * Sound and lighting installation, repair and operation * Painting and repair of gallery walls * Assisting Art and Design Students, Faculty and Staff with Art installations * Training student staff on basic operation of the sound and lighting boards * Serving as the primary contact for Jan Serr Studio technology * Assisting the Production Manager with any technical needs as it pertains to sound, lighting, or scenery for Dance, Theatre or Music shows. Minimum Qualifications * Basic experience with lighting and sound for music, dance, theatre, and entertainment settings. * Basic experience with the operations of a Modern Art Gallery * Experience with patching, painting. * Experience with video streaming Preferred Qualifications * Bachelors in Dance, Music, Art, Theatre, Film, or related field * Experience with portable sprung dance flooring installation (i.e. Harlequin Liberty LatchLoc), de- installation and maintenance. * Experience with portable audience seating risers and stages * Experience with Canon Video Cameras * Experience with Mediasite Streaming set ups * Experience working with student crews in an educational setting * Experience patching, painting walls in an Art Gallery * Experience lighting art gallery shows * Experience installing artwork in a gallery Application Instructions Applications must be submitted online and include the following materials: * Cover letter * Resume * References In your application materials, please be sure to address all minimum and preferred qualifications.
