The Accounting Clerk applies the principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepares financial reports to support the Plant Controller.Responsibilities:Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to accounts such as general ledger accounts documenting business transactions.Balances general ledger accounts with supporting documentation on payroll, worker's compensation, health insurance, legal, and miscellaneous expense accounts.Reviews Accounts Payable entries for reasonableness and accuracy and approves and posts batches.Reviews raw material purchase costs for reasonableness and accuracy and makes corrections where necessary.Reviews inventory value for accuracy.Is responsible for preparing supporting documentation for weekly forecasts and assists Plant Controller.Assists cycle count team in resolving any count variances.Provides documentation and support to company auditors at their request.Allocates unapplied cash receipts to the plant accurately.Analyzes inter-company activity to ensure accounts are reconciled at month-end and prepares selected month-end journal entries.Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.Fort Dearborn has been around for almost 100 years, and we pride ourselves on our high level of excellence. Two to four years related accounting experience and/or training.Microsoft Office Suite / Excel Advanced level.Must be able to climb stairs, bend, sit, stand and walk.Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.Cost accounting experience, preferred.
