Job Description
Basic FunctionTo represent the court system in a professional manner; to be courteous and friendly, respond to all concerns, questions and requests in such a manner so that the user of the court system remembers the experience in a positive way, to perform those duties which insure the smooth handling of all jury trials.Essential Duties* Prepare the courtroom and jury deliberation room for jury trial* Take attendance for jurors reporting for duty* Keep jurors together during breaks* Prepare jury and courtroom for deliberation* Order meals for deliberating jurors* Draws juries; secures, sequesters and escorts jurors to the courtroom* Assists judges in coordinating court proceedings* Acts as a liaison between judges, juries, attorneys and witnesses* Maintains order in courtroom during trial and guards jury from outside contact* Enforces courtroom rules of behavior and warns persons not to disturb court procedure* Provides information of area accommodation information (ie. Restaurant, parking, etc) to jurors* Checks courtroom and jury deliberation room for security and cleanliness and assures availability of supplies* Reports need for police or medical assistance to sheriff's office if necessarySupervision ReceivedReceive direct supervision from Jury Coordinator; general supervision from the Clerk of Circuit Court and Administrative Deputy.QualificationsQualifications* High school diploma or G.E.D.Knowledge Skills & Abilities* Ability to follow oral and written instructions.* Some knowledge of the court system* Some knowledge of the Criminal Justice System* Skilled in listening to what other people are saying and asking questions as appropriate* Skilled in identifying the nature of problems* Prompt and regular attendance* Ability to exercise good judgment in recommending possible solutions for juror difficulties* Ability to establish and maintain good work relationships with judges, jurors, court staff, public officials, and citizens of the community* Ability to speak clearly so that it is understandable to listener* Ability to concentrate and not be distracted while performing a task over a period of time* Ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrongThis description has been prepared to assist in properly evaluating various classes of responsibilities, skills, working conditions, etc., present in the classification.
