Job Description
Acuity is seeking a Staff Accountant- Support. The primary duties of this position are to assist with the review of schedules for the daily check process, handle equity (stock) transactions and provide backup support for bond processing, support the receivable reconciliation (account 16000's) and 1099 reporting processes. This role will also prepare month end schedules including non-admitted assets and assist with Lawson/Infor conversion testing, documentation and preparation of training materials.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:+ Support the daily check run process. This includes reviewing invoice coding and approvals before printing, approving HAPR payments and running void payment steps. After invoices have been reviewed and approved, checks and registers are printed.+ Perform monthly equity (stock) processing and backup bond processing, reconciliation and reporting.+ Prepare monthly non-admitted asset entry.+ Support the agent and insured receivable (account 16000's) monthly processing and be the primary backup. This includes being the primary preparer of Acuity TX MGA receivable spreadsheets and related journal entries. This role should learn, document and be able to troubleshoot issues when receivable workpapers are out of balance, which may include working with IT and billing to resolve as needed.+ Monthly reporting of agency relations spending data to underwriting managers.+ Prepare workpapers as needed for independent public accountants or other auditors as requested, including the annual statutory audit report.+ Support state supplemental filing process.+ Support the annual 1099 and B-notice reporting process.+ Prepare annual asbestos reporting.+ Secondary backup for daily premium reporting.+ Support the Lawson/Infor conversion process. Assist with testing, documenting and preparing training materials as needed.+ Regular and predictable attendance.+ Perform other duties as assigned.EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.EXPERIENCE: Prior accounting and/or tax experience helpful, but not required.OTHER:+ Good understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and aptitude to learn statutory insurance accounting principles and practices.
