Job Description
Job ElementsFor the purpose of this job description, equipment is defined as all Automation Equipment, Vision Systems and related conveyors, including any new equipment introduced to the manufacturing process.* Perform diverse repair and installation activities to layout, construct, modify and maintain a wide variety of machinery and systems. This requires an extensive knowledge of mechanics, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and material handling techniques.* Diagnose and troubleshoot problems relating to any piece of equipment within the plant. Dismantle, inspect and overhaul machines and/or machine components, under a minimum of supervision. Guide and instruct lower classified repair personnel when needed. Confer with supervisor or engineering personnel on need for repairs and/or replacement parts.* Do skilled fitting and aligning of precision mechanism, drives, bearings, etc. Layout and install machines and equipment. May assist contractors on installation and/or expansion operations. May travel to perform these duties at a subcontractor or customer's facility. At times these trips may be taken unaccompanied* Operate lathe, drill press, welder (including TIG), milling machine, grinder, etc. to make or alter replacement or modified parts. Work from blueprints or sketches. Use a variety of precision measuring instruments to check machine alignment, performance and fit parts.* Must be aware of and adhere to the various government regulations set by agencies such as E.P.A., D.N.R. and federal, state and municipal governments in the disposal of waste, handling and storage of hazardous substances and regulations as they apply to other job duties.Required Qualifications* Education - 2 year technical degree required* 3 to 5 years of extensive knowledge of electronics, programmable logic controllers, pneumatics, and vision systems. State Journeyman card in lieu of experience is acceptable.* Ability to work alone with minimal direct supervision.* Strong mechanical aptitude. Must score a passing score on testing.* Acquire and develop proficiency in machining and fabrication, including proficiency in MIG and TIG welding and drill press, lathe, milling machine, and surface grinder operation.* Acquire and develop ability to work from mechanical prints and electrical schematics.* Ability to work with associates from all levels of the organization.* Completion of fork truck training and the ability to operate fork trucks safely.Nearest Major Market: WaukeshaNearest Secondary Market: Milwaukee
