Job Description
POSITION PURPOSETo assist the Head Coach, primarily with recruiting, organizing and running practices, fundraising, promotional activities, and other related assigned responsibilities.GENERAL EXPECTATIONS: All Lakeland staff members are expected to:* Demonstrate in their words and actions an appreciation for the history of Lakeland and a commitment to its stated mission;* Represent unequivocally in their behavior the stated values of Lakeland;* Be good stewards of the institution's resources, including its personnel and the goodwill of its friends, its alumni and local community;* Work collaboratively (as opposed to competitively) with their peers to meet objectives and achieve our goals;* Keep their supervisor appropriately informed;* Be forthright and honest in their communication with all members of the college community;* Treat all members in a manner of teamwork and respect;* Act in a manner that sets the standard for service in higher education and the core principals of Lakelanders Excelling at Professionalism (LEAP), show respect, communicate and be positive;* Advise their supervisor with respect to all matters that require their attention, including their own performance.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSA successful candidate will be a positive role model to our student-athletes on and off the course or track, exhibit strong leadership, and strive to develop those leadership capabilities within our student-athletes.Responsibilities also include:* Monitoring and assisting student-athletes with academic success* Effectively recruiting quality student-athletes* Assisting the head coach with any/all aspects of the program* Secondary duty will be assigned.OTHER DUTIES* Please note this position description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this position. Secondary duty assigned at a later date.QUALIFICATIONS* Bachelor's degree (Master's degree preferred).* Experience and/or coaching basketball is required.* Must have an acceptable driving record.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES* Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations governing recruitment, eligibility and related functions is required* Demonstrate ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality;* Ability to effectively manage time and priorities;* Ability to prioritize office workflow and make effective administrative decisions to increase efficiency, accuracy, and productivity;* Demonstrated ability to tactfully and effectively communicate (written and verbal) with a variety of individuals;* Strong critical thinking skills;* Demonstrates organizational ability, and attention to detail and accuracy;* Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment ;* Ability to work evenings or weekends as needed.PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT* Moderate to strenuous physical activity is part of the position.
