Job Description
OverviewCoordinate the Applications Engineering operations to meet department and corporate goals. Analyze customers' needs, prepare specifications, design modifications, estimates and other pertinent activities related to product application and installation. Identify and implement technology improvement plans. Supervise the Applications Engineering team and work in conjunction with sales, engineering, and manufacturing personnel to support company policy. Provide leadership for team members and act as liaison between customers and the company on engineering matters regarding product application, sales, installation, and services.Responsibilities* Supervise sales engineers and applications designers who support the Stairlift, Vertical Platform Lift, and Vehicle Lift product lines.* Direct the work of cross functional team members to support application issues.* Evaluate personnel in meeting goals; create, implement, and document improvement plans, and departmental productivity enhancements.* Recruit and train new employees under direct supervision.* Design engineering layouts of custom curved Stairlifts, Vertical Platform Lift installations and Vehicle lift applications.* Liaise with dealer and 3rd party networks to provide application, installation, technical and sales assistance, as well as troubleshoot installations and answer product questions.* Schedule department workflow to maintain application quality and quantity goals; collect and analyze data to support daily activities.* Supervises, the Creation of Bills of Material and work orders; provide technical support to the manufacturing, Fabrication and assembly Departments.* Lead and/or participate as a member of corporate product and process improvement projects.* Participate in Continuous Improvement processes (CI) for applications driven items including root causal analysis as well as creating, validating, and implementing solutions.* Provide accurate and up to date application information in software for company-wide reference (i.e. Dashboards on daily workflow, which company products align with 3rd party vehicles and mobility devices).* Document, analyze and reduce non-conformances through identification and implementation of standard processes and procedures.* Supervise the Creation of illustrations and text for installation instructions; provide technical support of product information to internal departments.* Support New Product Development and Sustaining Engineering projects with Application market knowledge and preparing application team members for new product launches.* Oversee custom-engineer design modifications (SPOs) as needed.* Read, analyze, and interpret a variety of information, such as Drawings, Bills of Materials, technical procedures, business correspondence, and governmental regulations furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Create business-level written correspondence and verbally present information to internal and external customers.QualificationsEducation and Experience:* Bachelor's Degree (Engineering preferred) and minimum of 2 years of experience supervising engineers/designers.* Experience with design engineering software (2D & 3D Cad, SolidWorks, DriveWorks, & AutoCAD).* Project Management experience on a multi-departmental level is a plus.Skills and Abilities:* Read, analyze, and interpret reports and legal documents.* Write articles at publication level that conform to prescribed style and format.* Effectively present information to employees, management, customers, regulatory agencies and members of the business community.* Requires job related software skills and Microsoft Office proficiency.Working Conditions/Physical Demands:* Office environment, with occasional lifting up to 50lbs, squatting and full range of motion.* While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit or stand; use hands to handle or touch; talk and hear.* Occasional travel both domestically and internationally may be required.* Some travel may be required (typically less than 10%)
