The Veterans Home is a 24/7/365 long-term-care facility dedicated to providing services to Wisconsin veterans and their families. Our facility is located a short drive from Milwaukee, Racine, Kenosha and other key locations throughout southeastern Wisconsin.The positions are primarily part-time but may work up to full-time based on facility needs, with the primary shift between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., with holidays, weekdays and/or weekends. The position removes snow and ice, applies sand to roads, walkways and building entrances as need, mows grassy areas, and performs general landscaping maintenance. The Laborer also performs daily preventative maintenance on equipment and assists in repairing buildings, vehicles, machinery, and groundskeeping equipment and tools; loads and unloads supplies and equipment, and maintains inventories; moves and assembles furniture pieces and other equipment used at WVHUG; and sets up and rearranges public use areas and private rooms as needed.To view the full job descriptionclick here.Special Notes:Due to the nature of the position, WDVA will conduct background checks on applicants prior to an offer of employment.Employment in this position is contingent upon passing a pre-employment tuberculosis (TB) test.Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e., a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without WDVA sponsorship) at the time of application.Qualifications:Minimally qualified applicantswill have experience:* Performing labor on a large facility.* Assisting with Maintenance, Ground Keeping and other General Services.* Performing Maintenance and minor repairs of Buildings, Vehicles, Equipment and tools.Well-qualified applicants willalsohave a valid Wisconsin drivers license.
