Under the direction of the VP of Operations NA, the NA Purchasing Manager is responsible for managing and optimizing strategic supplier relationships, purchasing processes and activities. Champion to receive best overall value in all purchased items, including materials, products, supplies, and services; with overall goal of improving quality and processes while reducing costs.Essential Functions:* Develop and implement purchasing strategies.* Develop the supplier base to meet quality, cost and on time delivery requirements, and develop new suppliers as required to meet stated objectives.* Managing supplier relations and negotiating contracts, prices, timelines, etc.* Assess, manage and mitigate risks.* Evaluate and execute cost reductions and quality improvements within the supply chain.* Participate and play a key role in new product developments.* Manage supplier rating system(s).* Serve as a mentor to manage, develop, and motivate staff.* Develop, recommend and implement purchasing policies and procedures.* Coordinate with Supply Chain and inventory control to determine and manage inventory needs.* Be able to recommend and implement leading edge purchasing systems and associated processes.* Use data/data analytics to drive continuous improvement activities.Other Functions:* Make recommendations toward continuous improvement* Maintain appropriate staffing levels.* Ensure that employees in assigned department(s) comply with all Health, Safety and Regulatory programs.* Participate in company-wide training programs directly related to purchasing techniques.* Perform special projects as assigned.* Responsible for time and attendance, completing performance/competency evaluations, competency/training logs, providing feedback, motivation and disciplinary action for employees in assigned department(s).* Other duties may be assigned.Qualifications (skills, knowledge, experience)* Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field.* 7+ years of purchasing and negotiating experience, with at least 2 years managing others.* Automotive manufacturing experience with a global organization preferred.* Deep knowledge of inventory and supply chain management.* Thorough understanding of MRP concepts.* Knowledge and understanding of ERP systems.
