Job Description
Status of Employment:Seasonal, Non-ExemptCompensation:$12.00 per hour or higher depending on qualificationsDescription / Duties:Provide developmentally appropriate activities related to nature, garden, and environmental education programs and camps that meet the needs and interests of the participants and aid in the greenhouse operations according to an established schedule.Assist in the evaluation of programs and services in the assigned area of responsibility. Assist with the purchase, distribution and maintenance of proper inventory of all supplies and materials within area of responsibility. Establish cooperative working relationships with coworkers and participants. Attend pertinent departmental/park district meetings and in-house training sessions. Conduct self according to the policies and procedures as established by the park district. Participate in park district Safety and Training Program to ensure that work performed and services provided are implemented in a safe manner.Qualifications:Education:High School graduation. Some college preferred especially in the area of environmental studies.Experience:Experience working with youth. Experience supervising groups of youth in a recreational setting. Experience working in an outdoor or nature related setting preferred.Knowledge:General knowledge of recreation, parks, and leisure service field. General knowledge of day camp programs and services. Specific knowledge of developmentally appropriate activities for youth in nature and environmental programs.License / Certification:Valid driver's license preferred. Valid Child First Aid and CPR certification.Hours:4 hours per day Monday-Friday with ocassional Saturdays.
