Job Description

  • Manage the material planning process that is responsive to evolving market demand
  • Participate in re-engineering the material planning process to improve accuracy, efficiency, and on-time delivery.
  • Assure the analysis of inventory levels, min/max settings, historical usage and future trends to optimize inventory purchasing function.
  • Create analysis and reporting to drive appropriate reserve of vendor capacity, updating continuously to balance to forecasted & actual demand
  • Create and socialize material dashboards to ensure planning and execution strategies are aligned with corporate goals.

Leather & Non-leather Development & Sourcing

  • Collaborate with product development and design to understand seasonal brand direction and needs utilizing the best suppliers
  • Strategize with cross functional teams to optimize any opportunity for potential cost savings and sustainability across the brand
  • Identify, develop, and manage effective relationships with existing and potential suppliers of goods and services to meet the established cost, quality and delivery targets
  • Establish, implement, and manage system to evaluate, monitor and report supplier scorecard performance

Quality

  • Work with technical design and manufacturing engineers to ensure any potential material risks are communicated to right teams for rectification

Process

  • Utilize reporting metrics to drive efficiency and continuous improvement throughout the department and the manufacturing base
  • Perform analysis of customer demand, sales forecasts and historical material usage to develop and execute build to order and build to forecast plans
  • Understand and balance risk of inventory shortage vs. overstock and proposes material consolidation and risk mitigation measures.
  • Perform daily maintenance on web-based purchasing system including: following up on unacknowledged purchase orders or late purchase orders, resolving ASN and receiving quantity issues, purging completed orders from the system, and maintaining standard costs in the system
  • Identify and partner with team on disposition of obsolete raw materials
  • Participate in physical inventories
  • Work with other departments, including manufacturing, shipping, receiving, finance and IT on issues, improvements and assigned projects.

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Knowledge of raw material constructions and finishing process
  • Problem solving mindset, analytical skills
  • Ability to work, think and act independently as well as part of a team; ability to multi-task and prioritize.
  • Excellent communication (oral & written) skills
  • 5+ years experience in raw material apparel/footwear industry a plus
