Accounting Manager

Due to increased workload, Jefferson Wells has an immediate need for an Accounting Manager to join one of our premier clients in the greater Sheboygan area! This is an ONSITE Position. The ideal candidate will possess demonstrated ability to prepare monthly financial statements, key metric reports, budgets, forecasts, cash flow projections and analyses, along with high proficiency in Excel. SUMMARY:

The Accounting Manager will lead and coordinate the accounting operations of the organization, focusing on optimizing profitability while executing accurate and timely financial reporting, ensuring internal control, compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, and safeguarding owner's assets.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review and monitor the activities, functions and entries of the Accounting Department and the financial functions, transactions and inventory of the organization, ensuring accuracy.
  • Compile and distribute weekly and monthly Financial Statements and management reports, providing analysis and forecasting to General Manager, Department Managers and Ownership, in a timely manner.
  • Manage employment practices of the Accounting Department to include hiring, training, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and evaluating staff performance. Provide leadership and vision to Accounting Team and other Department Managers.
  • Lead, prepare and maintain, in conjunction with Department Managers, the annual and capital budget and ongoing forecasts.
  • Prepare monthly cash flow forecast and manage the organization's cash flow by proactively managing accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
  • Oversee daily cash receipts and reconcile bank accounts and balance sheet accounts monthly.
  • Maintain fixed assets ledger and calculate amortization and depreciation.
  • Ensure compliance on all regulatory licenses and permits, leases, contracts, legal agreements, and the proper execution of all operational taxes and filings.
  • Provides strategic financial input and leadership on new projects and opportunities/strategies when developed, proposed or introduced to the organization.
  • Enhance and/or develop, implement and enforce policies and procedures of the organization by the way of systems that will improve the overall financial operation and effectiveness of the organization.
  • Provide technical financial guidance, knowledge and support to the General Manager, Department Managers and Ownership.
  • Comply with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and implement/maintain internal controls for finance and accounting operations and outlet processes.
  • Validate and ensure proper submittal of Payroll. Remit 401k contributions.
  • Maintain insurance (general liability, property, and Worker's Compensation) programs.
  • Coordinate all financial audits/reviews.
  • Fulfill Manager on Duty shifts as necessary.
  • Other duties and special projects as needed and assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent
  • 6+ years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience, ideally in a service industry.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office with high proficiency in Excel. Working knowledge of Accounting Software, M3 software preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare monthly financial statements, key metric reports, budgets, forecasts, cash flow projections and analyses.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Must be customer focused and output driven.
