Job Description
MISSION / SUMMARY:The purpose of this position is to provide mechanical design/drafting support to Menomonee Falls Engineering in its mission of providing value added engineering and project management services. Outputs include detailed CAD design drawings, machine design, custom tooling design, and engineering consultation. They understand and align business operations and Engineering as he/she executes their role to exceed customer expectations and align with GPI business, cultural, financial and operational objectives.JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following.* Abilities to generate detailed CAD drawings for the Americas Converting division for new equipment design and equipment upgrades.* Abilities to design machines and machine sub-assemblies from concept sketches.* Have abilities to follow up a hand sketches, verbal description of design changes (ECN's) and implement those into the functional part models.* Have in depth proficiency in ACAD and Solidworks CAD software* Apply principles of "Design for Manufacturability" to optimize the detail drawings for ease of manufacturing* Have proficiency in GDT (Geometric Tolerancing and Dimensioning)* Have proficiency with precision measuring equipment.* Learn the Menomonee Falls CAD filing and drafting standards and provide Engineering with Solidworks and AutoCAD drawings as requested for FSB projects.* Deliver results within the prescribed development timeline and engineering budgets.* Demonstrate strong communication skills and ability to work with teams for drawing creation and detailing.* Other duties as assigned.BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:* Strong skills in operating SolidWorks and ACAD CAD software* Develop detail mechanical designs and drawings for high speed converting equipment.* Design and detail mechanical drawings for tooling used for manufacturing paper cups* 5 years drafting experience with Solidworks and AutoCAD.* Experience preparing drawings to engineering specifications.* Experience with mechanical assembly and inspection* Work experience with large assemblies in Solidworks* Experience with GDT* Familiarity with materials, heat treating and surface finishes* Familiarity with weldments and welding standardsEDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:* Associates in Machine Design/Drafting (Or High School degree with equivalent work experience)* Knowledge of industrial safety standards.SKILLS:* Must be able to work in a team environment.* Must possess excellent oral/written communication skills, as well as organizational and multi-tasking skills to drive multiple projects to completion.* Ideal candidate is proficient in SolidWorks and experienced in AutoCAD and MS Products.* Ability to review and analyze sketches and ideas and turn those into complete detail drawings.* Ability to modify and revise existing older drawings and bring them to current drafting standards.* Consult with engineering and fabrications representatives to review and resolve drawing issues.* Ability to generate equipment operating manuals and technical documentations needed at the time of releasing of equipment to plant.* Ability to use precision measuring equipment.* Experience with 3D printing a plus but not required.* Experience with Zeiss CMM equipment and Calypso software a plus but not required.SCHEDULE DEMANDS:* General schedule is an 8-hour M-F assignment, however, employee must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally; that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so.* Occasional overnight travel to include flying, driving, riding or by rail.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:* Sitting or standing for extended periods of time up to 8-hours.* Occasional Lifting up to 20 lbs.* Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.* Use of various office hand and electrical tools or equipment.KEY COMPETENCIES:* Integrity & Trust* Action Oriented* To be evaluated and added at later date and absolutely prior to posting/interviewing for role.GRAPHIC PACKAGING INTERNATIONAL, INC. is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
