Job Description
Applus Technologies, a leader in the vehicle emission and safety testing industry, is seeking an in-house Corporate Attorney to work in our Brookfield, Wisconsin corporate headquarters.Reporting to the CEO, this position is responsible for handling all legal and risk management issues for the Company. This primarily involves contract review, management of third party law firms, coordination of litigation as needed, development of standard company contracts, responding to general legal questions and management of the company's property and casualty insurance.Specific duties include:* Negotiating, drafting, and reviewing all contracts and agreements, analyzes and works to resolve contract disputes, advises management regarding contractual rights and obligations.* Advising management on legal, contracting and risk management issues and negotiation strategy surrounding risk management.* Providing legal support to other department areas in the drafting of legal documents, Company policies and procedures, corporate resolutions, applications of diverse kinds and other legal or related papers upon request.* Investigating legal issues and claims against the Company, providing legal opinions or suggestions to management regarding such issues and claims, and formulating views about potential legal problems or the impact of regulatory or legislative changes.* Managing outside counsel vendor relationships for out-sourced legal matters.* Managing property and casualty insurance program; participating in the negotiation of premiums and evaluates appropriate coverage types and limits to ensure that coverages are appropriate to risk exposures, contract requirements, and legal mandates; monitoring subcontractor and vendor insurance compliance; handling damage/accident claims.In addition to being a member in good standing of the State Bar of Wisconsin, or licensed to practice law in another jurisdiction with eligibility to timely join the State Bar of Wisconsin, this position requires 3 to 5 years' experience in transactional legal practice.
