We are expanding this site to provide molecular biology analytical support for catalog and custom nucleotide components. Biosciences Division / Milwaukee, WI; 1st Shift Hours: M-F 8:00AM - 4:30PM How will you make an impact? The Quality Control Scientist III - Molecular Biology is responsible for performing and interpreting analytical assays related to finished (bulk) product, in-process product, raw materials, and other samples in the QC lab in accordance with the quality and departmental procedures; development and validation of new analytical methods for products and raw materials; and improvement of existing analytical methods for products and raw materials. What will you do? * Design, develop, and validate molecular biology and environmental monitoring assays. * Perform and troubleshoot molecular biology and chemical assays (e.g. environmental monitoring, RNAse, DNAse, Endotoxin, Endox/Exonuclease, Protease, KF, UV-Vis, HPLC, LC-MS, NMR, etc.) following standard procedures and maintain records according to ISO and/or other applicable standards. * Provide training to associates, foster achievement of goals as coach for team members, and act as a role model in implementation and improvement of safety practices/procedures. * Maintain lab equipment according to procedure. Maintain expertise in equipment use and troubleshooting. Identify and recommend the need for new equipment. How will you get here? Education * B.S. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related science; Advanced degree, preferred. * Minimum educational requirement: Bachelor degree required in the above and high school diploma/GED. Experience * Minimum of 5 years of laboratory experience in industry. Quality Control experience, preferred. * Hands-on experience with planning and executing nucleic acid, environmental monitoring, and/or molecular biology test method design, development, and validation. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities * Strong understanding of molecular biology analysis, including environmental monitoring, RNAse, DNAse, Endotoxin, Endo/Exonuclease, and Protease. * Strong understanding of molecular biology analytical principles, theory, and operation of various analytical instruments and techniques. * Ability to work on complex problems of diverse scope, and exercise judgment within broadly defined practices and policies. * Ability to verbally communicate, read, and write in English. * Ability to read, follow, and write work instructions. Ability to convey pertinent written and verbal information. * Ability in the use of electronic systems (e.g., computer) and MS Office (Word, Excel) knowledge * Ability in the use of laboratory software and electronic records systems. * Excellent presentation and communication skills. * Ability to regularly handle chemicals, solvents, and potentially hazardous substances. * Be mechanically adept and able to apply mechanical fundamentals to properly operate the equipment within their area of responsibility. * The employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, and crawl, and frequently lift and/or move 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds with assistance. * Specific vision abilities required for this position include close vision, distant vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus and differentiate between basic colors.
