Job Description
JOB SUMMARY: Design, develop, and implement customized technical documents. Gather information about needs, objectives, functions, features, and requirements. Perform writing tasks for technical documents, such as deviations, reports, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and justifications. Requires effective planning, scheduling, researching, and writing skills. Conducts work assignments of increasing complexity, under moderate supervision with some latitude for independent judgment. Responsible for determining and authoring root cause and corrective actions associated with Deviations, Out of Specification (OOS) and Non-Conformance Reports. Write Standard Operating Procedures and Change Notices for the department based on validated processes. Transform technical and scientific ideas into simple language, so that readers external to the facility may understand its meaning. CORE JOB RESPOSIBILITIES: Responsible for working with subject matter experts in determining root cause and corrective actions; associated with Deviations, Out of Specification (OOS) and Non-Conformance Reports. Responsible for the creation, writing and/or editing of procedures, SOPs, and change control documents. Manage site's calibration related tasks, including coordination of both on and off-site equipment calibrations, updating calibration documents and writing Out of Tolerance (OOT) Reports when applicable. Works with Quality, Engineering and Operations to monitor and report product release status as it relates to Deviations, OOS and Non-Conformance Reports. Organize material and complete writing assignments according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology. Edit, standardize, or make changes to material prepared by others. Analyze developments in specific field to determine need for revisions in previously published materials and development of new material. Review manufacturer's and trade catalogs, drawings and other data relative to operation, maintenance, and service of equipment. Review published materials and recommend revisions or changes in scope, format, and content. Interview production and engineering personnel and read journals and other material to become familiar with product technologies and production methods. Observe production, developmental, and experimental activities to determine operating procedure and detail. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education Bachelor of Science or Engineering Degree Relevant Work Experience Prior experience as a Technical Writer in a manufacturing or laboratory environment. Additional Knowledge of pharmaceutical or FDA-regulated industries is a plus.
