Your Opportunity Stantec's landscape architecture practice continues to grow throughout the Milwaukee metro. We are currently looking for a highly-motivated professional who is passionate about design and has expertise in urban design, master planning, and landscape architecture with experience managing project teams. Top candidates will have excellent graphic communications skills, project management skills, be highly organized, and work collaboratively and independently to manage large projects of high complexity, and as a leader of a team or project through all phases of a project lifecycle. You will have the opportunity to plan and design public and private projects across a range of scales and uses, including civic spaces, streetscapes, parks, residential, commercial, and institutional developments, and more. You will build new relationships with some of our more than 250 landscape architects firm wide, mentor new staff as we grow, and guide clients and teams through all phases or design and facilitate a smooth transition to an installed project. Your Key Responsibilities Manage project design teams and provide leadership/mentorship for team members (as we grow), including training and development and interpreting and ensuring consistent application of Stantec standards. Increase the visibility of landscape architecture and urban design within Milwaukee, Midwest, and U.S. markets and beyond by collaborating with Stantec's Community Development, Urban Places, and Sports Group teams. Collaborate with planners, architects, engineers, developers, contractors, and clients to establish our group's thought leadership on all things related to landscape architecture and implement effective communication and coordination on projects among other project participants. Manages and leads other team members while working on projects and delegating specific project tasks to other team members as appropriate. Responsible for planning, scheduling, conducting and coordinating the technical aspects of assigned projects. May perform or assist Project Managers with invoicing, managing and monitoring financial performance of project budgets using PM dashboard access. Your Capabilities and Credentials Proven experience in building rapport and trust with key clients, colleagues, and team members Ability to travel as required. Our work is local, regional and across North America. Strong graphic skills (either hand or digital) and proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office. A working knowledge of Lumion and/or LandF/X, is a plus. Candidate's work experience should demonstrate appropriate level of responsibility, work group leadership skills, understanding of the long-term view in building client relationships, superior customer service and communication skills both written and graphic. Desire and the ability to contribute on multiple levels within the design process are critical. Demonstrated responsibility, maturity and commitment to a team driven environment are key advantages, including an ability to communicate effectively, lead teams, develop strong internal relationships, and foster a culture of collaboration. Possesses excellent time management skills and has a thorough understanding of task assignment and schedule, budgeting, and efficient use of time and resources. Thorough understanding of codes, legal and design requirements in relevant jurisdictions and how they apply to design projects. Demonstrated effectiveness in building and maintaining client relationships. Proven ability to translate those relationships into winning new work opportunities. Education and Experience The minimum education requirement is a bachelor's degree or equivalent in landscape architecture from an accredited program. Prefer PLA certification and state licensure. Must be eligible to become licensed under CLARB standards. Minimum of 10 years of experience, 15 years preferred. You will work in a typical office setting, much of the time with computers and/or drawing by hand. Some local travel will be required for such tasks as delivering and presenting plans or documents to reviewing agencies or clients; attending client or public meetings; attending conferences to make presentations or participate in forums; and participating in internal meetings. May occasionally visit study areas, construction sites, and/or outside elements. May also travel outside of the local office area as proposal pursuits and project efforts require.
